I think it aligns well with Trump's platform. We need to secure our borders and bring manufacturing, and our supply chains, back to the states. Democrats will say Trump created the virus and sent it over with the tariffs.
I’d like to hear them try and defend it. See how far they’re willing to put Americans at risk just to feel right. Fully expose kind of deal.

China's only level 4 bio lab is within just a few miles of the market.

Genetic testing in the virus shows that while not mathematically impossible for Covid19 to form on its own, the odds of that happening were about the same as a meteor destroying the earth.

Personally I would like to see massive lawsuits from other countries brought against China.
And lawsuits from everyone who was infected and or died.
And anyone who was involved to be tried in the Hague, one charge for each count of death. From the scientist themselves, their managers, all the way up to XI Jinping himself. If you are conducting bioweapon research and it gets out and kills masses of people, the consequences should be the same as if you used it as a weapon.

Look at the death rates for countries not called China. Pay particular attention to those with functioning health care systems.

I've been keeping an eye on that also. You just can't trust the numbers out of China. Either around infections or deaths. In china the stats say around a 2.5% fatality rate and 12% hospitalization rate. In Italy, south Korea, and Japan where they have better healthcare it's looking like a 1.5% fatality rate and about a 7-9% hospitalization rate. In better countries like the US and Canada the numbers are far better. No fatalities and the hospitalization rate is around 4%, some of that is simply for quarantine.

My kid works for Apple as a software engineering manager with location services. Writing software for maps for China is almost impossible because the government doesn’t publish accurate maps. It is a matter of state security. If China is that paranoid just imagine how they are managing the info for this.

The package proposes using untouched money that has not been used, like unspent funds for Ebola, as well as new money, totaling over $2 billion, according to a person familiar with the supplemental package.
Over $1 billion will go toward vaccine development and the other money will give HHS the flexibility to spend the cash as it sees fit, from stockpiling masks to paying for diagnostics.

Am I being too skeptical? I do realize this is serious. I realize we cannot take it lightly. I have zero clue as to how much money is needed for this. Just seems typical of ANY government negotiations to reach for the stars when requesting money. Not sure how either side can truly know how much is needed? I'd bet those asking for more money have ties in the industry. Doesn't matter which party they belong to. They want to profit from a crisis.

while some politician somewhere may profit from a health crisis like this, I'm very sure I'd prefer our government err on the side of caution, and is intending to take it seriously, at least. 2 billion dollars is nothing to the federal government. like $20 to you or me.
So have any of your employers had any discussion with employees about health/safety measures to avoid infection spread, and/or contingency plans if the virus becomes widespread? Are any of your businesses taking it seriously?
Last week I had to have a routine test at the hospital - I asked the nurses/techs if the hospital had discussed any heightened procedures due to the Coronavirus - nope, not concerned, cited previous SARS/Ebola stuff.

Most medical staff are still dealing with the current flu season and not looking past that. It’s the old we’ll deal with that when it shows up routine.
So business as usual....
