We had a hail storm while out of town last weekend. Destroyed it. Wife will be going out today for new plants.

Yup. Zero tomato or pepper plant survivors. Complete and total loss. Might be the last time she starts from seed.
That's no good. Thankfully still plenty early but yeah, lots of work down the drain.
I didn't realize how much these little fellas are like kids lol. Constant attention needed. I'm going to wait another week before putting ours in the above ground box, supposed to see 40's over the weekend and they are just working on their 2nd set of real leaves. Really wouldn't hurt to transplant into bigger containers and give them a few weeks but that's too much work lol.
Jesse, I'm digging that fence. You just use a hand post hole digger and sink 3-4' in the ground on the round posts?

I took out 400' and put back 160' temporarily. Still a huge improvement on how it was, especially how I had the garden previously. It was an ugly mess.

Ok, seeds were started and I did 2 seeds per pod on the planting. Most both seeds came up so how do I choose which to snip out? Some seeds came up with two sprouts, I'm assuming those are good ones to trim out as they wouldn't be as sturdy as a single plant? Or are those better having 2 stems? Of course I could google but you guys are better to ask.
I didn't thin, I just transplanted each into a larger container once the first set of real leaves emerge on each seedling.
What has multiple sprouts (tomato, cucumbers, etc?)
Cool, thanks for the info. It looks pretty taunt in the picture so didn't want to assume on how deep. I'm debating on 5 strand high tensile or split row wood in the long run once it's in its final spot, but for temp and still not an eye sore, this is exactly what I had in mind. Now I just need to find the motivation to get it done lol.
5-strand high tensile is a possibility, especially with an electrified bottom strand. We'll see how I like this in the fall and then again next spring. I may shift this garden too. Depends on if I can find a decent greenhouse for a reasonable price, and if I can eventually get a dozen in there to level things out some.

I’ve got Several tomato and peppers both with double stems coming up from one seed. Not sure if I should cut one stem off or let them both grow? As far as the pods with two separate plants I think I might do what you said and separate them now before the roots get too big and just let them grow instead of thinning them.
Shame on me for doubting my wife. She recruited our son to help her plant everything. He dug. She planted. Guess I need to mulch and hook up irrigation.
Had to till under my cucumbers, beans, and peas thanks to the 3-day toad strangler we had. It either buried the seed too deep, or packed the soil too tight, then it didn't warm up enough for them to get the energy they needed to break that hard packed soil. I have a couple peppers and tomatoes that appear to have drown as well. They may recover, but it doesn't look good.
You can also see the darker soil up top. That's thanks to my neighbor's septic tank. They remodeled the house, moved in, then realized the tank doesn't daylight. They have an easement across the lot that's now my garden, but can't discharge without ending up in a legal battle with me. I'm trading them more easement to daylight in the same spot mine does, and they're trading me some property to make my backyard bigger. Gotta get it done ASAP.
Damn, sorry to hear in that septic Jesse hopefully it works out without issue.

I held off putting things in due to the temps and rain over the weekend here, mid-40's were seen. I just put in the 7 big tomato plants from seed I to the above ground box at the house, but they were only on their 2nd-3rd leaf set so hopefully they take.. The 7 cherries and cucumbers will get planted within the next week or so but they are going through hardening during the day and spending the night under the lights in the garage.
Sweet corn is growing good at property where it's wide open to sun, about 75% in the new area in the yard, just not enough sun after the tree canopy came on. Need to get another round or 2 in this weekend.

Tomatoes and peppers are growing like crazy here. All of my peas are up, just need to read up on what else I have to do for them as far as fence/wire. Beans are popping up, some are 2" tall and some are just breaking ground. Cucumbers are doing OK, some mounds only a seed or two have come up tho. My other tomato and pepper seedlings are going good. Haven't separated the doubles yet so maybe this weekend. I'll let them grow a bit taller in the pods before planting. Got some strawberry seeds to get out of the freezer this weekend and get them started as well.
