After doing some research, I’m better off with wood construction. In my mind, this could be my house in the future. Sell the house to one of my kids kind of deal and move into the barn.

I’ve also left 4 messages this morning with builders. The loan is ready for signing, but I don’t want that money just sitting in my account. It’ll get pissed away in a hurry...we all know how that goes. Wife craving Mexican food, lets go out. Truck needs a couple of tires, might as well get wheels while I’m at it. Piss it all away and have no building.
Just send the money too me... I’ll safeguard it for you and your future home.... 👍🏼😂

Huh, I wonder what a guy would put in that gap. 🤔

Ground breaking day was today. In 3 hour time, the shade is gone from my driveway.

Been watching this thread and enjoying all the input. Just went back through it and I got to say, I'm surprised at how on point it has stayed through seven pages. A little minor ballbusting and joking here and there, but everyone has really stuck to the topic and nobody, surprisingly, has gayed it up. Good job fellas.

We did land on 40x56x14 under truss. 3 garage doors and one man door.
You have chosen wisely. That would be an ideal size in my eyes. Especially if it were built in such a way you could extend the length down the road "if" needed. 14' trusses will allow 12' garage doors. 40' allows backing in a camper or putting a nice bench along entire back wall or two cars deep. . . Lots of options with that height and depth.
