50 years too late

Although I consider myself young(er)..35..I feel like an older soul and was born in the wrong generation.

I was raised right, respect others, pray for thanks and forgiveness, see the good in each man, the whole nine. But damn, where the hell did things go wrong, or has it always been this way and small-town folk just didnt see it? I almost have a sense of guilt for having a 2 year old daughter and raising her in this crazy world. The media runs the show and everyone is at each other's throat, or is offended, or no one can agree to disagree and then have a beer together. I remember in the late 80's/90's being around my grandpa and his buddies and they genuinely loved life. Surrounded by good women, cold beer, and hunting/fishing tales for days. I need one of you older guys to connect the dots for me, respectively. Was I born 50 years too late?

Nah, I think everyone alive today with any sense of right and wrong feels the same way. Also, if it were not for news 24/7 along with social media, we would never know what these morons in urban areas are doing. Aside from the pandemic thing, everything is perfectly fine in my little town. Haven’t seen a riot or anyone coming to get my guns. Local law enforcement would help me bury unruly ANTIFA members should they cause a problem here.

I think brock is spot-on. This country has always been full of shitty people. The difference is today we're simply exposed to them via social media and the bombardment of sensationalized news. In our grandparent's days, the news was all local channels and actual journalism. There was also an editorial standard where things that we're not family appropriate were either covered very lightly or only in print.

Like you I wondered what kind of world I brought my two sons in to (ages 2&3) Then I thought, I wonder if my grandparents had the same feeling in the early 70s watching the Vietnam protests, the very active socialist party, and a myriad of other things.

All of this has really only solidified my choice to move back south to raise my family. A place where manners and christian values still exist on a pretty common scale. Not saying they don't here, but Ohio is a swing state for a reason. I'm a firm believer that shit is going to get bad in my lifetime and a heavily populated state surrounded by inedible corn, millions of Democrats, a massive heroin problem, and 4 major metro areas, isn't where I want to be when that happeens. There is a shifload of remote country, guns, and swamps to hide bodies in before that shit gets all the way to the Mississippi gulf coast and most of that starts in southern Ohio. 😅. They gotta get through southern Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and all of Mississippi or Alabama before they make it that far south. The gulf and the woods are full of food and damn near every house has a shovel and more guns than hands. 👍

The truth, and the answer, is somewhere in the middle. Yet the people with the loudest voices are nowhere near the middle, they're way out on the far edges. And somehow common sense and reason have been sidelined, the voice of reason has been silenced. And the quote New Normal is all this blasphemy bulshit that's going on. But almost everyone that I speak to is a person of Common Sense, is appalled by what is going on in our society, and ask the same questions as you. What can we do to change the course? Unfortunately, most of us are feeling powerless and impotent, feeling as though we are unable to change the course of this train. But we can't accept that. We have to begin speaking out on behalf of Common Sense, our country, and ourselves. Easier said than done

It is very sad. I am not much older (cough cough). I remember when my son was just a toddler. We went into K-mart because he had saved his nickles and dimes that he got here and there. He wanted to buy a new toy. We would go to the register and put his ziplock bag of change up there with his toy. Yes sir yes ma'am. He knew how to speak to adults. I would tell the cashier not to worry about counting the money. I would swipe my card. I can't count how many times they would stop us and say something about how mannered Connor was. Different world now.

We are a rare breed, and unfortunately are becoming few and far between so it seems. I personally think it's cylicle. History repeats itself to those uneducated, and we live in a highly uneducated society in my opinion.

Take a look at this cycle. If 12 o'clock is us being in bondage to England? Then where are we as a country now in this cycle in your mind?

You are amongst friends and similar thinking people here, Snyder. I agree whole heatedly with your thought process.

Even among similarly minded people though, I feel out of place. As if I should have been born in the 40's.

I had the same thoughts before we were blessed with 3 children. After many talks with our grandparents, parents and aunts/uncles, it was made clear this world has always been fucked up. They had the same thoughts and fears. Whether a World War, Vietnam, Cold War, black ppl rights, etc. I can't phathom the fear that gripped people during the Cold War/Cuba missle crisis. So while I hear Joe, those swamps don't give a shit about a nuclear war. We look back in history and think, oh thats not too bad, times were easier then, etc.......bullshit. Talk to this who lived in those times, they'll tell ya how tough it was real quick. We are blessed with medical and technological advances they only dreamed of.

You're not alone, the only advice I can pass along being only 2yrs older, is worry about what you can control and raise those kids to be good members of society. Once they become adults, your job is done and its on them. Get to a point where you can look at your wife and kids and tell them that you can be taken from this earth at any moment and that they need to know you are happy. Build the legacy and put that bitch in motion. The world is gonna do what the world is gonna do, take control of your little world and live life to its fullest.

I think it all started when they stopped using the paddle in school.
You got that right.... I'll add another: Bring " OLD SPARKY BACK AND USE IT " I turn 70 this Nov. I could go on and on but I have things to do and my cell battery is down to 7 %.... But I'll say this... Country is in the big white bowl and if things don't change its time to push that little silver lever, and flush it.... Cause it's gone to shit...

Great post man. I largely came to the same conclusion about our older generations. I'm sure at some point they all felt that "the whole worlds gone to hell".

The last thing I'm worried about is nuclear war as that's pretty much the end of everything. Social unrest, economic collapse, a loss of the dollar as the world reserve currency, and socialist Democrat control of state government are my biggest worries. 👍.

True, They did have some rough times back then and might have thought there was plenty of rough road ahead... Remember my Grandparents and parents talking about times in the depression when they had to eat lard spread on bread.. But no matter how rough it was they always had each other and there was unity in the population... They were there for each other.... Growing up I hitchhiked all over the place and always got rides... Try that today and see where you get.... Years ago I thought nothing about stopping to help someone broken down esp. a female... Stop to help a female today, you may be forced into a lawsuit... So the key here is people helped each other back then and respected each other, they were not out to F#@* each other....
