After a solid 3 year run with our chickens, the last 2 succumbed to predators this week. So, I need to start over and that begins with a new order of chicks and a coop remodel. I just ordered 6 barred rock hens, 6 black laced golden wyandotte hens, 6 buckeye hens, 6 french black copper marans, and 2 bielefelder roosters, all expected to ship on Monday or Tuesday. Cost more than chicks from TSC/RK, but they're coming from an extremely reputable breeder in MO. The roosters are show quality and with a 4H'r in the house, we may let her take one to the fair next year.

Got home from the camp today and disappointed in my 120 hatch. Only two fucking birds hatched. First one hatched Friday. They were shipped and didn’t arrive till the 8th day before I could put them in the incubator. The string of luck continues lol.

We're back in business! If you find yourself looking to order birds, look up Cackle Hatchery in Missouri. Very pleased with the service and the quality of the birds after 2 days of travel. I'm working on the new coop renovation right now and hope to have it ready on 4-6 weeks. Until then, this makeshift pen in the shed is their new home.
