given a choice, most people will do the right thing, most of the time if they are inspired, for whatever reason, to do so. deciding for me, or demanding that I do what you want only inspires me to rebel even more vehemently. this is where we are. half of us want/need to be told how to live, the rest of us won't ever go along. we are at an impasse.
I just don't see how national unity to combat this virus can ever be achieved to rival the unity of our country during WWII. sure, there is a common "enemy", but half of the country wasn't trying to demolish free market capitalism and wrestle political power away from the other half of the country in the middle of WWII(to the best of my knowledge, anyway). the real enemy is attacking from inside this country and using the pandemic to serve their goal. the politicization of this pandemic and the breadth of the fraud and corruption of our electoral system might be the greatest attack on the USA since we became a sovereign nation.
