Well, it was a picture perfect morning! Right from legal time until minutes before 9:00 a.m., where I was about to shoot a good buck. I was covered in deer during the entire hunt and it all started with a couple of grunt calls that I made first thing, at approximately 7:15 a.m.
  • 4- Antlered deer - 2 of them I believe many would have shot if given the opportunity.
  • 2 - Big adult does and,
  • 2 - Young deer, one was a button, not sure what the other was exactly.
  • 8 - deer encounters in total within 2 1/2 hours, all within bow range. In fact, half within 20 yards.
Plenty of photographs taken and some videos of the much closer encounters as well, including one of them captured on my bow Tactacam camera I do believe, of the buck I was about to shoot at 15 yards, the last deer of this morning's hunt.

I was intending on putting the icing on the cake of today's hunt, but I could not close the deal.

I am a little taken back by the missed opportunity, however I do feel quite blessed in having such an awesome time this morning.

All the details will be in my hunt journal later on this evening.

I do intend on getting back out because the bucks were most definitely seeking out the ladies over the last 12 hours or better.

Good luck to all those that are out hunting today!

Upon further review, I am so glad I did NOT shoot that buck this morning because the buck before him, was the giant I saw the just the other day and he's back in the area trying to track down a doe, or the does that are hot within the area.

I am currently uploading today's morning hunt video and it should be available when I get back up into my tree here shortly. I have a series of Tactacam photographs of that giant buck that was just out of my comfort zone to make an attempt to shoot'em, but like I said, he's back in the area, just to the East of my morning setup, where I am going to next with a mild South wind, which should hopefully workout for me.

Once the video is available to share, I will place it within my hunt journal.

Now I feel so much better that I did not shoot the last buck that was just yards away from me this morning.

I will fill in all the details later on this evening within my hunt journal.

See you back here soon!

Just did a quick update in my hunt journal. This morning's hunt video is available now, but the transcript is not.

I will fill in all the details after this evening's hunt.

I'm back in the same location as this morning, which is just West of the bedding area by about 60-70 yards of where the huge buck, an 8, a forky and two hot does went into this morning.

Good luck to whoever is huntin!

Just got set up for my last sit before gun season. New property, supposedly has a huge buck on it that the guy hunting before only saw never shot at. The other guy got a different buck so now I have access.

I saw five different doe families this morning, nary even a skipper buck sniffing around on another property I hunt. Back on my place at 2:30, and between 3:15 and 3:45 I had three buck come by definitely back in search mode. One of them is a 4 1/2 5x5 in the 150’s with a forked G2. I’d be rattling tonight if I were still buck hunting. Da boys are back on the prowl.

We got in woods at 330, climbing hill to get to stands and look up and an 8 point eating 60 yds out, not much we could do but watch him eventually feed off 😒. Our other stands where we had a close encounter yesterday had another buck show right at dark, guess we shoulda went there ☹️. He's no giant but my son wouldn't hesitate for a second on him
