Made an evening hunt on the property since you can only kill one deer a day on the nwr. Watched 5 does hail add out my crp onto the corn field looking back hard. 10 minutes later 3 more does did the same thing. Forgot my phone on the rail of the truck bed or I’d have pics and video. After an hour I hear some hissing noise. I look around and finally stood up and looked at my bike next to my stand. Yup there he is, big black fucking bear fixing to climb on my atv. I yelled at him twice to GTF. He didn’t even look up and slowly walked away. How hard is it to kill a bear @Fletch?

Yes but I have no idea on size vs weight. I’m thinking he’s 300+. Probably 18” wide at the hips. [emoji2373]

So my buddy Barry that wounded the doe had a big bear come up on him and I guess tracked down the doe. Chased her (front broken leg) and she ran under my stand w DJ sitting in it. Couldn’t get a shot as they both were running. Then the bear followed our trail out and was by the Atv’s. My cart is in the bushes so I guess it’s gonna get tore up since it had blood on it. Did I tell you I hate bears?

Another friend had 3 bears under him this evening also. Time for some SSS.

Serious question. How can you tell boars from sows. I’m thinking this guy is a boar and has been this size since I bought the property (13yrs).

Man you have them thick as thieves over there. I wonder if they make an alarm for a quad. 😅. You might have to string up one of those portable electric fences they use out west around your bike when you park it.

It happened so quick I wanted him to not tear my seat up. I had wasp spray I could’ve lit him up.

That looks like a boar... Telling them apart other than Giles favorite body part is hard. It's just that certain look a male has... Bigger boxy looking head that matches body size... Females heads are small looking when compared to their body...

This is a bear that decided to take a stroll through a local town one day... He's got a big head that matches a big body and he's got that look, don't F with me....

I’ve only killed two bears in my life, one with an arrow in NY with a bow and it only ran 40 yards...the other was in Saskatchewan with a 300WSM and it only traveled 20 yards. They are incredibly strong animals but like fletch said, you hit them right and they die quick. They don’t seem to be near as tough as a deer after a shot.

Well I can’t do anything about them here but wait for a tag. Currently they are still protected and a problem for us. I’ve said it before, I love them here but these bears in private ground have no fear of man. On public they will take off like you shot them out a cannon. Hopefully soon they will start issuing tags. I’ve been told many times that there will never be a season on public land. I bet all it takes is one bad encounter to change that.

Anyway I didn’t feel like getting up this morning but here I am in a stand on the property. Barry and Dj are in the nwr hunting primitive, Hunter and Ryan on wma hunting w bows. I need a few days break. I don’t know how George or others can hunt all day everyday straight. Must take some kind of mad at them. Hats off to you guys putting in crazy hours.

Lol...that’s the attitude you need. When I see a deer coming, my first thought is YOU DIRTY BASTARD! It works.😂
