Should have been catching up on sleep. Been working like crazy with all the snow. First weekend without work in a long time. I charged the caller last night. Took it out tonight. Made 4 stands. Called in a pair on the last set. Hit the first one. Had a buddy with me. He got two shots off at the second one but it was on a full sprint at that point. Going to look for blood tomorrow. Wasn't finding any. I watched it hit. That fur soaks up a lot of blood on yotes. If it didn't die. . . .That is the second one in two years not recovered. Probably time to confirm my scope is hitting where it is supposed to be hitting. If it is still dialed in, then it may be time to step up from the 223 round. I want dead coyotes. Not runners.
Just need to go to a heavier bullet. I'm shooting 68gr VMax. Has a little more umph then the standard 55gr. tips.
Not having my jeep running has screwed me getting out. With 10"+ of snow in my normal pulloffs I can't get off the damn road. Hopefully this warm up and rain will help and I'll get out this weekend.

Power steering, pressure plate, junk jeep rims that won't seal anymore.
I'm just not going to drop the money into it that is needed. Would cost more then it's worth. Waiting to find a decent truck.
Any of you guys that call ever sit up in a treestand while doing so? I would believe it would improve visibility and possibly keep your scent above their noses somewhat. Is there anything illegal about it?
Never sat in a stand but I wouldn't think it would be any different then deer hunting as far as sight advantage. Nothing illegal about doing it that way. Hunting the wind the same as any other critter. Keeping your scent higher would be better to morning hunt so the thermals help lift as the ground warms up. Evening cooling brings scent down lower.
Your thinking about it too hard Chad lol. Sit in the stand and keep an eye on the downwind because they will circle to see if they can smell it.

I could see sitting up in a stand that gives you a better vantage over a field than sitting on the edge.

Good luck my friend! Went out to the Nova property the other day and called for a couple sets, to no avail, hoping to put some down as well before turkey season. The raccoon traps are getting set this weekend though. F those egg stealing MF's. Lmao
I would play the yote vocals right now. With mating season going on it'll help. I avoid the rabbit in distress as much as I can because everybody and their brother uses it. Only time I play it would have been a couple weeks ago with all the snow but only if I had a decoy to go with it. Could also try vole squeak, red fox.
Coyote Cannon was ordered this morning and shipped. Should have it by Monday. Spring break next week so I'll be working 1st shift. I'll be out next week for sure. With nobody to go out with I haven't gotten out as much or as long as I would have liked. I guess I'll need to start looking for other guys to hunt with further from home on occasional weekends.
Had it dialed in or so I thought. Went to go out a couple weeks ago and found the base mount screws had loosened up. Got them tightened down and have now added the upgraded coyote cannon. Time to play...
