Cell phone boosters

What do you know?

Anyone have any experience in this area?

I do not as I always enjoyed going over to the high barn and not having reception. Now we have our own barn and I'm thinking about putting a ceiling in. This tends to take cell phone reception with a second layer of metal. Also thinking about a metal roof on the house. So this is a concern of mine.

Anyone else with this issue? How did you fix it? I know people like Rich hate their phones because of coverage. A couple hundred dollar booster could be worth it. Right?

I don't have experience with them but I know they work. It's not snake oil science.

I was looking in to them. I don’t remember where I was reading but you can dial something on your phone. My service is Verizon.

Anyhow it will tell you some numbers then you can compare numbers to see if a booster would help you.

As usual it won’t me. Maybe someone else knows what I’m talking about?

Oh and the price of metal just went up about a month ago. Got a letter in mail from my supplier. 😒

We have had an at&t and Verizon booster and both failed within a year and a half, they both piggybacked off the WiFi which slowed down the WiFi too. We have yet to find a good one.

But do they work as advertised? I believe a 7,500 Sq ft coverage would get my barn and house if I mount it around the garage. That is "if" that coverage isn't line of site coverage.

Well... I might also check them out as I got a new phone and thought that might have been the problem as reception improved... So I thought, as I dropped 2 calls in the house yesterday... But back to the phone... I got a Google Pixel 4A and so far like it... Best thing was.. Setup was a breeze...Just switched sim card from old phone to new, turned on phone and in 15 minutes or less was done... All my contacts, texts and pics were there... Last time I had the Verizon store do it, I went across street to Walmart for like an hour, came back and downloads still loading... Also when searching for a phone last week I stopped in a Verizon store and showed them broken phone and they said pics were gone and could not be retrieved... Guess Verizon being a top provider they better train their people better...

Here ya go.

Once you get them readings. Then check what readings are minimal your booster would need to operate,or be beneficial.

Mine were to low.
Interesting. I wonder how this works when inside a building you have zero and outside you have good signal.

Not really my wheel house. I believe inside you need to at least have minimal readings.

(That’s the way I understood it after looking for hours reading this that etc Of course I could be wrong..).

I also read a lot of reviews where people had no signal bought a booster and still had no signal. paid for installation the whole nine.

Maybe you could get your numbers then call who ever sales the booster and ask them.

Of course I would call a couple. Sales are sales etc. I’d also ask about a return policy.

You need to have minimal readings. I have a WEBoost at camp. Basically it works by having an outside antenna that has a corded connection to an inside antenna. They can't be too close together. It works well to boost in that room of our camp. We went from sometimes to being able to send a text to being able to use the phone and we have data. They definitely work and saves us driving down the road to the church to make a phone call.. HOwever it only works inside the cabin. Go outside the cabin and you don't have any better reception out there than we did before.. The walls kill the inside signal. Also you can tell a difference in signal strength inside the cabin the further away from the inside antenna you get. I think I had around $400 to $500 in my system. It is designed as a single room system. The whole house systems are expensive.

Dave, you don’t have strong enough WiFi too reach the barn? Would a WiFi booster be an alternative option for it? Would be cheaper from the looks of it.

Our wifi sucks. Can't even stream live TV. And the wifi only reaches about a 1/4 of the way.

Can you run cable from your house to the barn and put another router out there so you can access WiFi?
Yes.

I am also interested in upgrading my camper booster. Or having a mobile set up for strouds and such. My buddy Josh also has crap service and even worse wifi than we do. I told him I would do some asking around, so I am. Currently there is zero reception inside his barn.
