Fresh ones everywhere on the walk to the stand… been in by myself since 315. Only three does so far. WSW wind is a great wind for where I am. Let’s hope it lasts. Good luck everyone. Going swinging for “oak” tonight

Just got home. Was at full draw on oak while he was at a shootable 24 yards tonight. Was drawn for about two minutes waiting for him to come through an opening to get a clear shot at vitals. As I’m turning to my right the worst possible thing could happen! I bumped my thumb release. Arrow flew 10 feet away from oak, spooking him and three other bucks off the hill. Didn’t see shit else the rest of the night. I haven’t shaken like that at full draw on any other animal in my entire life! Extremely upset with myself knowing it was my fault! Gonna drink a couple beers tonight and try to shake it off.

The only deer that I saw this evening, was a lone button shortly after 4:00 p.m., nearly an hour after I got back in the stand.

He stuck around for about 15 minutes or so, then headed North over the top of the hill and completely out of sight.

The rest of the hunt was a complete bust.

I did see a couple of deer on the way home afterwards, roughly 30 minutes after quitting time and that was it. If fact one of them had me jump on the binders a bit, thinking it was going to jump out in front of me.

Giving that location a break and let the rain wash away all my scent from the past few days. I won't be back at that location until Tuesday morning, and possibly Wednesday morning too. The rain is suppose to quit sometime early Tuesday morning and another decent weather cool front rolls in with some nice cool temps. Tuesday daytime high 50 and the nighttime down to 37. Wednesday morning should be a pretty crisp morning hunt I reckon. I'll have to take a good jacket with me. Totally looking forward to it!
