I ended up going to Yurco Taxidermy. Was unaware he existed until @Knelly mentioned him. Local guy here in Cambridge, Ohio. He does very pretty work from what I can see!So who did you decide on Chance? Sorry if I missed you saying who you decided to go with.
I dropped it off at steves. Hell of a nice guy. All the mounts look great. He didnt ask for it but i put 300 down hed been ok with 100. Glad i didnt boil it. I need a cape from a 1.5 yr old buck now to undo the mistake of just boiling my daughters 1st.Half down was what I paid but he does do awesome work.
Most taxidermist carry a few extra capes on. Just call around and ask they typical don't charge as long as you are using them for the mount.I dropped it off at steves. Hell of a nice guy. $125 for a cape at that shop. If my kids dont kill one next early season or someone i know doesnt bag one ill hit up the amish butcher shops during indiana gun opener see if i can skin one out for the cape. Most taxidermist carry a few extra capes on. A nice sized doe cape will work just the same. I'm sure someone around you would give one up. Still 35 days left in the season!$125 for a cape at that shop.
