I had the pleasure of being recruited by his staff and meeting him when he was at BG, I played and started against his 16th rank team . He revolutionized college football with his offensive schemes, he basically invented the RPO run pass option, while he was at Florida and OSU NFL coaches would network with him taking some of his college schemes and applying it to the NFL when possible. I never cared for his focus 3 positive culture bullshit and thought it was a giant scam. that focus 3 shit leaked its way into high school sports and school buildings , that company charges like 20 k for like 3 days of that bullshit training, a lot of administrators fall for it . A lot high coaching interviews are now more about culture and focus 3 concepts than your actual ability to coach, don’t ask me why I know all this, sore subject. Anyways I thought he had lost his mind and needed to say retired after leaving osu

OMG, I hope not Ryan! At one time I was huge urb fan till I saw his coaching methods and playing faves with less talented players. I think all the fame went to his head. Saban is in a class by himself. Hims the best!

Saban and urban are like the same person only Saban was a defensive guru the schemes he was running at Michigan St. revolutionized modern defense. Saban failed in the NFL as well, they are extremely similar both are like dictators and treat coaches and players like shit.

Before the transfer portal, Saban was famous for having huge recruiting big class every year, anyone that played or really understands college football knows that not how natural recruiting cycles worked. He would force guys out who didn’t pan out. This was a unwritten no no in the d1 world before the transfer portal, once a guy signed MOST coaches honored that for 4 years

Yep. Before transfer portal Alabama was essentially getting 5 recruiting classed in 4 years. That was huge, especially when your classes were light years better than everyone else's. They're still better than everyone now most years

You don't win championships with a coaching staff that sucks or by babying grown men who are making big paychecks. Do the job or he'll find someone that will. He expects that his staff upholds a standard. Even assistants that have been good enough to become coaches themselves still struggle against him.

Recruiting is always a funny business. Some make it, some don't. Some ride the pine and suck up a spot, some go on to transfer. I can bet you one thing though. Never once did a player get forced to transfer who the next year won the natty, and the Heisman, and then played in a Superbowl.

Despite all that though. As long as someone is performing as expected he's a great coach, fuck around and find out though, or be a reporter and keep asking stupid questions and he's not so nice.

No way this happens. UM got all the love he's gonna get with the current gig. I'd be pissed if this scenario did play out. I want Luke Fickell back. We have one, maybe two years for Day to leave and Luke to return. He's the only guy that's fit for the job unless Vrabel wants to come home.

Nope. I saying he is capable of being a dick, and is a dick, when people don't perform to expectation. That's different than walking around being a dick all the time to everyone. From everything I've read his players love him and he's is close to them in practice and on the field. He's not a CEO coach that only shows up to berate people.
