WV was super slow last week. Best action I had was working one on Monday between downpours. Thursday only had a couple gobbles but none that wanted to play the game. Had high hopes for Friday since it was perfect weather but it was the worst day of the week with zero birds heard.
We hunted my buddy’s grandpa’s in Lawrence county over the weekend. They were fired up on the roost Saturday. We got a few to respond but none all that interested. The couple that were responsive stayed over on the neighboring property. This, of course, while we have permission on 200+ acres that adjoin 60,000 acres of Wayne. They chose to stay on the neighbor’s 40. Sunday was super slow with only a few gobbles on the roost way off. Frustrating to say the least. It was still a great time hanging out and helping out with chores and projects around the farm. I’ll be back at it later this week

@Isaacorps I saw the same in WV with the exception of late morning Wednesday when multiple birds got responsive. Ohio they have been responsive but not willing to commit. Today has been slow, cold and damp, only the jakes have gobbled within ear shot.

Gobbles all around but none would commit. Saw 9 hens throughout the morning…all singles…one came into the decoys and started talking to them, then she went over to one and was pushing it in a circle on the stake. She left but was still talking smack as she left. 40 more minutes until quitting time. Been in this pop up blind since 5:15….my back is sore!

No gobbles, one silent hen fed thru, sitting in a new spot,, moved one of the blinds yesterday afternoon between work calls.

A buddy of mine has a daughter who is an avid hunter. She got a Turkey yesterday. I sent her a text of the one I got today and she asked if I cut open the crop and saved what was in it…she also sent these pics. She started to do it last year. The first pic is this years bird and the next pic shows this years and last years birds. I thought that was a pretty neat idea. I’ve never heard of someone doing this and I may have to start.
