I couldnt figure out where to post this question and I figured here would be good!
Im living in SW PA and I took my dogs out the other night with the wife. Well, lets back up. My dad has a nest of baby hawks right off his back porch. I jokingly said he should make a stand and put some meat on it for the hawks. That goof ball put beef fat trimmings on it.
So my wife and I get home later and take the dogs out. I always go out with my Glock model 40 (10mm) and a headlamp. The neighbor got trail cam footage of a cub and also a Fisher. I know I know...but Game and Fish confirmed it was a Fisher because he sent the picture to them. They were amazed.
Anywho. I shined my light out the back way and I saw his stand with meat on it and I mentioned it to the wife. 30 seconds later I scanned the woods and I see eyes. Normally its deer but I know their greeny/yellowy eyes. These were blue/purplish. And whatever this was, it only blinked twice and never looked away for 5 solid minutes. The 2 blinks it did were very slow and I could see its eye lids closing and then opening back up. Deer will break a stare and then look back. This thing DID NOT disengage. This says predator to me. It was hard to judge distance and height, but it appeared the eyes were about 6-7" apart based on the size of the eyes whick looked about quarter to half dollar in size. I also threw 3 seperate rocks and they had to have hit right around it. Nothing, not a blink or look away.
Based on the fact there was meat out there filling the night air I also assumed predator. We ran into the house, grabbed a plastic bag and bleach and removed the meat and sprayed his post down. We dont want predators thinking they can get free meals here!
Any idea what in the heck it could have been?
