Kristi Surgery/Hurricane Ian

It sure looks like Ian is going to hit really close to our place in Englewood. Keeping our fingers crossed that our place makes it through OK, and keeping all of Florida in our thoughts and prayers for the next couple days.

Kristi finally had her reconstruction surgery from breast cancer after 3 years of cancellations due to Covid and other issues last Thursday. It was a 7 hour surgery and the doc said everything went great. She is doing very well, quite a bit of pain but they have given her some good pain meds. I just need to get her to not worry about this storm since there is nothing we can do.

The not so great news is Englewood is projected on the US model to be the landfall location for the eye. The European model shows it a little north of Venice which is still bad because then Englewood is on what we call the "dirty side" of a storm. That's the side with winds coming onshore.


Do you know what you base flood elevation is for your place? You can post or PM me the address and I'll try to look at surge maps to give you an idea.
