Barn lights

I guess first question is what are you doing in the barn? Are you just wanting enough light to find your way around in the dark or are you doing some kind of work there that you need to really see? How high is the ceiling/roof?

a few years ago I put up 4 of these with 100watt equivalent LED bulbs, they’re 14-16 feet high in the rafters. My barn is a big bank barn 72x70 feet. An electrician friend said that’s not enough for code, I said wasn’t reading in there I just needed to walk around without breaking my neck. They’re easy to put up, easy to replace(going on 8 years with the original bulbs) and they’re protected. I really need 2 more because I have a couple shadowy corners.

Little bit of everything, therefore leaning towards more light than just enough. 12ft ceiling 30x72.

Heres a somewhat decent comparison. The left bulb, while its 3200 lumens is 4000K. The bulb on the right is a 5000K CFL. Maybe a good idea of the two. 4000K is a whiter while 5000K is bluer.

Here's what I ended up with. Only used 6/8 lights due to a room going in. I'm highly pleased with the lighting pattern.

My buddy did some high bay lights in his 60x80. 4 of them light the place up. Good choice.

My neighbor 1/2mile away put up flood lights on the outside of his barns im pretty sure came off an alaskan crab boats... I think hes trying to light 4 acres highly annoying looking that direction at night. Your inside looks great!

I dont understand why his arent on switches and leave dimmer ones burn all night. Looks like a concert or a football game is going on year round.

Pancake lights are what we use in remodels. Not sure how well it would work your barn since they are made to be hung in drywall/panel ceiling. Low profile too. Cheap and plenty of light. Alway come with box and can switch from 3000-4000-5000 with the flip of a switch on the box. Works with led dimmer too. Run about $10 each on Amazon.
