Where to hunt

I’m from NC. I have friends who live in Uniontown Ohio. I would love to hunt some while visiting. None of them hunt so they aren’t any help. I’ve looked at the Berlin Lake area on a map only. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Archery or gun?

Probably last couple of days of archery then a couple of days fun hunting

Haven’t hunted any of these places , or how close they are , their is shenango wildlife area , auburn marsh , Berlin lake . Have heard Spencer lake is over hunted hope this helps

Archery you might not see many, but a weekend before gun season? You may see a lot of people scouting. Either way look at the topo maps for the area and base your strategy on that.

That’s a tough area to find decent public, if it’s over thanksgiving break and first few days of gun, you will be competing with a lot of hunters. Thanksgiving day has a lot bird releases and small game hunters, the die hard bow guys are desperately trying to harvest “their deer” before gun opens and then comes the orange army

You’ll see assholes like myself with backpacks drinking bush light marking areas with tape., etc. Nothing better than blowing up a place a couple days a year that bow hunters spend month studying and hunting. Romp and stomp baby!

You might look into West Branch (Michael J. Kerwin Reservoir) about 25-30 miles NE of Uniontown. A huge area with decent public land potential.
