Let's talk socks

I'm at the end of my rope with socks bunching up near my toes! I wear Ariat slip on work boots most days and wool socks. I don't like synthetic because I feel they make my feet stink...worse than they already do after a long day in my boots. I bought the current wool socks years ago at Costco and they are all wearing thin. Can't remember what brand. What socks do you guys wear day in and day out. Calf height and preferrably wool that don't slip down and bunch up for the love of it all!!

Smart Socks for everyday wear and First Lite for hunting applications. I still wear regular socks on occasion though.

Realtree Men's Ultra-dri Casual Crew Socks is what I've been using over the past three seasons. I'll also put on a heavier pair of wool socks over them if the temps get brutal, like below 20*F with any kind of a stiff wind and I fully intend on being in a tree-stand someplace. I'll purchase them when needed at the local Tractor Supply Co.​

I very much prefer over the calf socks for hunting and hiking after my dogs. I friggin' hate it when socks fall down or get bunched up in a boot. OTC high quality wool and wool blend socks are the only way to go for me, and I also wear lighter weight wool socks when I'm working or doing whatever around the house all year long. I don't even own cotton socks. I usually try Sierra Trading Post first as they sell factory seconds from all the major brands Smartwool, Thorsen, etc. Get the good stuff for half price or less lots of times. I have not needed new socks for years, but I'll probably give the Darn Tough socks a try when I do. I'm a sock snob, too.

Bought darn tough socks for an out west trip. Only kind I will wear for hunting now. Also have some of the lighter version for working around the farm.

Darn tough, smart wool, or Duluth Trading merino wool socks. I have slowly been replacing all my cotton socks with merino wool.

I have a few pairs of these socks called GermaPro. I've had them about 4 years and they've held up outstandingly well. What I like about them is they're slightly padded on the tops of the foot and fronts of the shins where boots tend to apply pressure. They also have kind of a stretchier material around the middle of the foot that not only provides support but keeps them snug in the middle but still let's the toes move freely. They're like $13 a pair but I love the shit out of them.

Same here, have a half dozen pair of them. Never an issue with them falling down. Use them daily, especially when working on the driveway, wearing muck boots.

My search found those after seeing the $25 a pair price of the others. You sock snobs!!! Lol. $5 a pair to throw away after they wear out is easy on my wallet and brain. That $25 price is hard to swallow for a pair of socks.

Another vote for Darn Tough. My Duluth socks are worn out after a year or two. And for what they charge, I don't think it was worth it. There's a thread on here somewhere about this. I should update my experience with the Duluth socks. Highly disappointed. My Darn Toughs are still going strong after 10+ years.

I've used the Red Head lifetime warranty socks from Bass Pro/Cabelas for many years now. No complaints whatsoever, they're warm and they stay up in my boots.

Best place to purchase the darn tough socks? I need some new ones and I'm a sock snob also.

I have a bunch of Lorpen lightweight merino hikers that I wear almost daily. I like them but they're starting to wear out. I have some icebreaker merino wool socks but they are showing their age also. I have a pair of generic cabelas wool socks that are easily 15 years old but they aren't nearly as warm anymore.

Since this thread ever came about, I went and bought some of the suggested socks shared by some here and these that you shared are now my all time favorites and 'go to' for a few reasons; low cost, they are the most comfortable out all of what I have worn and tried over the years, and they are truly warmer than any of those that I have tried thus far, and with NO combination with any others all during the freezing muzzy hunting season. My feet never got cold nor did they sweat like they have with all the others I've worn and tried.

So, thank you very much Brian! I actually love these socks and meant to jump back on here to let you know. I fully intend on stocking up on them now, thanks to you.
