My mom, being Pennsylvania Dutch, makes a wicked mince meat pie also. We heat it up, drizzle molasses on it. Acquired taste I suppose. Same as shoefly pie.

You are very correct. It’s an acquired taste and people seem to either really like or hate it. I personally think that those who don’t like it can’t get past the “meat” in the pie thing. You actually don’t even taste it or see it. Make more for us that do like it.
