Buy a vehicle

Buying a vehicle should not be such a hassle or game. I found a 2022 tundra that I wanted to purchase, contacted the dealer, told them no trade, cash or finance, whatever gives me the best deal.

The dealer has only had the truck 10 days and I understand it is a nice truck, but the only offer was the $579 price drop that showed up online. Seriously on a 60k truck?

It's still a sellers market but it is changing. Just hasn't hit all vehicles yet. Toyota has always been "this is the price". Lots are full again. Times are changing back. If you want the toyota, just deal with it and pay up. If you want a deal, go buy a Ram.

We are $2,500 apart, they just need to give some, if not there will be other trucks. Screw em.

also reading that the new tundras are having more issues, nothing is made worth a crap anymore.

How do you guys that buy and sell often, not lose your butts when trading in or selling outright
Stretch your area online out to 500 miles, don’t be afraid to work a deal out of state. I went to WV for my 2021. I had 3 different dealerships working at the same time. Ohio, Pa and WV. The dealer in WV was more motivated.

Stay away from dealerships. Buy them broken. Buy base model and make them appeal to your needs. Never stop shopping. I look multiple times a day in a 200 mile radius of my house. Usually weekly in a 500 mile radius. You gotta be fast and ready when something pops up for a deal. Buy it before they realize they screwed up. If you are looking for an exact truck, like Jesse, just pay the ransom and don't look back. Don't think about it. You keep your shit forever, so a deal isn't that big of a problem. You aren't going to resell it. Unlike me, I am always trading around and buying. So I Buy things I don't need, things I don't want and wreck everything I want to keep😭😪. My wife hates the process. I enjoy it and I'm attached to nothing. I've got a coworker wanting to drive my 350 Monday to the bank. Traded a golf cart for a Fiat 500 yesterday. Lol, always dickering. Gotta know what you dicking with to know what a deal is when you see it.

Shop. Shop more. Shop hard. Walk away from it. Start shopping again. When you find a deal, know if it is a deal, a scam, rebuilt title, or something else. Confirm EVERY option you are looking for. Might say TRD, but is it truly a 4x4 if that is what you want? Stuff like that. Might be a CRV model listed as EX-L but if it doesn't have leather it isn't -L. Couple thousand difference in price.

When you find the one that checks all the boxes, be certain to offer money over the phone to hold it. If the deal is that good, it won't be there long.

In the Superduty I just bought, it was timing. Small dealer. Semi-retired. Was traveling for a month out of country. Emptying his inventory before he left. Listed everything at wholesale price. I just happened to find it the day he listed it.

And to be fair: this is NOT a perfect truck. It has some blemishes not many would notice. @giles pointed out one when he saw it. I hadn't picked up on it nor had the guy with me or several others who had looked at it. It is also a plain model truck with some extras to dress it up. Amazing what a $1000 take off tire and rim package will do for appearance.
