For those that have spent time in the South when an actual emergency happens...

...why is everything a drama now?
I'm still waiting for the surprise. Shut down businesses, court houses, etc. Extra police and potentially military personnel. What do they know that they aren't telling us? Hopefully a non-event like Y2K. Prepare for the worst. Hope for nothing.

Welcome to the north coast/south shore Stressless, this is our home base.

Still not sure what to make of all this. Lots of businesses and farms all blocked off, but not much traffic when headed N from FL on Friday. That said, one waitress from FL was flying up to CLE to see it....wwhhaaaatt.

Hotels are 90% booked, weather looks decent with some cloud cover tomorrow and close to 70*. Im just glad we are home, because if this happens, I could understand the hours of gridlock...

The irony of people flocking to NE Ohio to see the sun blocked. When folks in NE don’t see the sun for days on end……
The crazy thing is Texas should have clear skies and the Midwest and northeast should have clouds and the opposite is happening. Lots of disappointment for those people.

We are here and set up, perfect camping weather.

If you are in the path of totality, it will go against everything you have ever known for as long as you have been on the top side of the dirt. I think even though we all know it is coming, it will freak you out when it happens. I can't image what ancient civilizations thought when mid-day turned into night....

And unless it is full/100% totality, it won't get much darker and is no big deal to see.

I also think the traffic congestion thing is being way overhyped. A buddy of mine drove to the last one and said he pulled into an empty church parking lot to watch it.

I am in totality. Maybe I'll toss a welding helmet in the truck and stop 3 min 52 seconds to look at it. Maybe I'll just turn the lights on. 🤣

Honestly hope you are right in regards to the traffic. Locally, it is getting pretty old hearing about it. Hotels booked. Campgrounds booked. Restaurants full. Overall, good things for the local economy. Just a big influx of activity.

You can look at it with your naked eyes during totality. You won’t see anything through your helmet in totality.

The welding helmet is not dark enough.

You are exactly right, I was blessed to experience totality it in 2017 and will again tomorrow.
