Mower battery question

Have a zero turn mower.

So far my wife and now I have both left the key engaged and drained the battery so far that my charger and jump starters didn't even recognize it was there. Had to use old school jumper cables and it started right up.

Besides the obvious of not doing it....

How rough is that on the battery?

2-3 years is about all we can expect anymore. Don't fast charge it. Put it on the 2amp trickle charger to bring it back up. Put a battery tender on it in the off season. You probably shortened it's life but we don't get many years out of them anyway.

Once I got it started I ran it meeting for a few hours and then put it on my charger in a "recondition" cycle.

I trickle on it over the winter and run it for 5-10 minutes monthly along with my other engines.
