What donut

My (maternal) grandmother immigrated from Transylvania, she would on occasion make donuts. We’d help rolling the dough, then she’d drop them in oil to cook them up, we’d add sugar and cinnamon to them and have them with hot cocoa. Looking back on it, brings a smile to my face. Don’t remember if they were any good, other then we did eat them until they were all gone 😂
There are a couple of farm markets nearby that make apple cider sugar donuts while you wait….you watch as they cook them and when they hand the bag to you, you have to hold it from the top as the donuts are still way to hot to eat. My work truck would be full of the aroma and you had to wait.😂

In my early years of growing up we had some mom and pop bakeries within walking distance of our neighborhood. The golden crust was one that we walked by going to school. We’d pool our pennies and try to scrounge up enough for a couple donuts to eat on our way. Didn’t happen often but was a real treat back in the day.
