research by University of Georgia says the pine issue is a myth, the issue is cold or low temperature fires.Oak, hickory and cherry. Pine every now and then just for the aroma, but it’ll F up your chimney with creosote if used a lot.
When I lived NC I cut down a few free for a buddy and sold it. Never had a complaint from the buyerI have access to big sweet gum tree, I know it is a pain to split, but have any of you guys used it for firewood
