Maitake(Hen of the Woods) season

Has it come & gone? There were some that came up in early September. Been to my best woods twice in 2 weeks & nothing. It's been pretty quiet, haven't heard of guys finding them.

I think it’s been so dry, the ground and wood isn’t saturated enough. That’s my uneducated guess. I haven’t seem much in the way of shrooms.

Found these flushes just now after uncovering them from leaves. I checked this stump a few weeks to a month ago but I didn't look on other side cuz I found the hen on other side last fall. Going to leave it alone and hope it comes back bigger and better next fall. It's looking dried up and old.

The tall tree stump that had COTW on it was bare and no sign of it coming back.

Just found about 40 lbs around my old faithful stump. Hadn't checked it in over a week. I had given up on it. Some was really dried up. Some super fresh. I seen where the township mowers ran over a couple others
