Another Kentucky bird…

Mason has put together some turkey videos from our season. This is the last one I killed in Kentucky.

He missed with a gun. It really isn’t all that uncommon nowadays. People set up turkey specific guns that shoot really tight patterns… which I think is a mistake. Wasn’t the case with him since he was using my gun at the time. He claims there is something wrong with that gun - even though...

Good luck to you and Sydney! I may take a friend out tomorrow. He’s been trying hard all season to bag his first turkey but hasn’t had a bit of luck. I took him out one time last year. He missed two and I have really enjoyed giving him grief about that ever since.

In my defense i called Giles to see what the situation was. He said everyone was hiding in the campers and he was gonna take a nap. I’m not much of a spooner. 😀

I wish I would have dropped in for a visit but I thought it would be weird to slip into y’all’s campers while you were trying to nap through the rain. 😀

No turkeys were heard or seen on Mason and Alana’s hunt this morning. Btw, that is his truck in the background… you know how it is, pack in deep into the wilderness and the critters will be at your truck. 😀

Mason took his girlfriend this morning for her first turkey hunt. Miserable day to introduce her to spring hunting. But she was excited to say she heard a few gobbles. They didn’t have any luck but hopefully they will before season ends.

Mushrooms seem to be standing tall everywhere down here right now. I’ve been knocking the crappies out of the park the last three evenings, just fishing from the bank. I didn’t keep any tonight but would guess I caught 30 or so in an hour and a half. My guess is that whomever makes the trip...

Before season I had six jakes running together on one of our farms. They gobbled at everything. The three or four mornings I hunted that piece were very quiet. I only heard gobbles one morning, and I suspect it was those jakes and they only gobbled on the limb. It was boring as can be...

Happens every year. When they have established the pecking order and gathered their harems, they often don’t say a word. I had a gobbler yelp at me from the roost Sunday. He never did gobble. They get with the hens and all is quiet. What makes a fun hunt is when the hens leave them...
