    2025 EHD?

We had the same situation here in 2018. All the puddles, which were everywhere, created a lot of new midge habitat.

    2025 EHD?

Doc Sims is a friend and neighbor. He told me earlier this week he saw his first case of EHD in 2000. He has been a practicing DVM since 1974. He said cattle that are affected by it enough to warrant a call to him are generally in poor health prior to EHD infection. It does not noticeably...

    2025 EHD?

There is no doubt we could do better. The issue is there is no desire to do better from those that are in control.

    2025 EHD?

I can tell you Seth and I did some surveys for metro parks. We did not work for 55/hour. It was a substantially higher rate. He enlisted the help of a GIS friend to lay out all the information in a concise format. It was very impressive finished product. The directors of the parks were...

    2025 EHD?

I think it’s the effort required. Our biologist rarely leave the office unless it’s to speak publicly. We do not do extensive research on whitetail deer. Regarding Cwd, we have tried to follow what other states have done to this point, which is ridiculous considering those states have had...

    2025 EHD?

I realize he has retired but want to invite those concerned to listen to this podcast. At the 50-55 minute mark he mentions how Ohio May have to move to a market venison situation to control excess deer. He makes mention of it two times in the podcast. Additionally, he sites a decrease in...

    2025 EHD?

It would be entirely possible to get a far better population estimate than they have ever had before. However, the Dow is dug in deep to the belief they can form accurate models based off of harvest trends. They see no need to make changes or improvements in modeling. Per Tonkovich @...

They often lose the tail nail completely. My former deer farmer buddy said they walk around essentially on raw meat. Those hooves just look a touch foundered to me.

    2025 EHD?

I have watched this fella most of the summer with the drone. At least once a week. I haven’t checked on him for a week or so. He too has the nasty coat but I never saw him acting sick. Of course I hope he wasn’t which would mean sometimes they just turn a little early. He’s the only deer...

    2025 EHD?

Sighting Mrex again; he told me a few are surviving. And those that do all have the patchy coat you described. It makes it appear their winter coat has come on early. Apparently the high fever causes their summer fur to shed leaving the dark coat behind.

    2025 EHD?

It is. Mrex is not a biologist. He was not speaking on behalf of anyone at the DoW, just a guy that based the numbers from previous year’s harvest and his own opinion. He told me just this morning if Athens county had 13-14k resident deer, he believes 10k of them are now laying dead due to...

    2025 EHD?

Mrex asked me to pass along the deer found July 4th were actually tested and confirmed.

And yes, Nimrod means hunter. Wtf?

    2025 EHD?

I thought I clarified that; it is not my intention to KILL deer, it is my intention to have hunted deer in all 88 counties. And I am having second thoughts about the attempt due to this very misconception.
