He let him walk again last night since he had his compound. He said he is glad he missed. 😀

He missed the ten point. Sounds like he had a good time in doing it. Maybe next time. All the fun, no mess.

This is why I am not a betting man. If that ten comes out as he has Mason will have a 20 yard shot. Maybe the big one will be with him again??? Either way, I hope to have to leave work early.

Mason passed the 160 last night again but the big fella did not show up. He told me last night he is tempted to hang a stand so he can kill that ten with his recurve. It would be his second best buck, likely, and to kill it w a recurve would be cool. But, I am currently betting he sticks...

These two were on our back ridge as I was walking up the front ridge. I saw 8, couple small bucks chasing does. The 8 that is pictured with the deer I like walked right up to me, 15 yards or so but his buddy was not with him.

I’d guess the deer mason is hunting is 50 lbs heavier than that drop was. I don’t know which rack adds up the highest but if Mason can get him killed we will likely find out. He is definitely after the bull of those woods.

This is a day or two after he shed velvet. I think this one is gorgeous.

This is one I don’t mind sharing. I watched this deer all summer, knowing around the 20th of October he’d show up on a piece I like to hunt. Sure enough, he showed up this morning. I’ll be sitting in a tree this afternoon. So I guess the grind starts for me this afternoon.

He has a lot of video of this deer staying out of range. We have never seen a “target” this many times. He is really frustrated right now and honestly getting tired of watching him. It’s crazy because usually if you get a look at one like this one time, you feel like you have won.

Mason has seen his target 12 times in 14 sits. Still has not had a shot opportunity. He’s trying something different tonight.

I’m sure it’s a little different in every state but the common denominator is that there has to be a “safer” area for deer to reach maturity- and that doesn’t exist just everywhere. Just 15 years ago people commonly shot the easier deer not knowing there were bigger there. Trail cams changed that.

Hard to find an old one here too. And getting harder every year. I have found a common denominator in the areas I find them, though. A couple actually that have proven themselves to me over the last few years. There are large areas around here where you just will not find an old deer.
