    TOO Garden Thread

I finally recalled the term - vernalization! Here is a quick explanation (I found off the web) for those interested in garlic production - other species also can be considered. “For most garlic varieties, you need vernalization to get stratification. In simpler terms, you need cold weather to...

    TOO Garden Thread

My wife’s uncle (Italian fellow) he still grows his dad’s garlic from Italy. Same thing here in Ohio - plant in fall and pull in Spring. I’m not sure why, but some species don’t do well with heat units and needs to over winter then they can produce “fruit” or seed. Think of a daikon radish - if...

No Till Food Plots - So Easy

I had some trees arrive and didn’t have the time to plant them yet. So I decided to pot them until I have more time. Every time I plant a tree, I use Spectrum+Myco - helping to inoculate the tree roots. I have also used this product as a seed coating, especially on new fields. I want to help...

No Till Food Plots - So Easy

Crimper update day 8 Deer feeding regularly Plot is still laid over and again about 60-70% seems totally terminated. I am impressed!! I look forward to continue to monitor this and crimping the NitroBoost in a few months.

No Till Food Plots - So Easy

I’d say the double cropping cover crops (throw and mow) before the tomatoes 🍅 was a major success. In just a few short weeks the NitroBoost has produced great tonnage and fixed N. I am certain both my soil and tomatoes will love this in another week or two. The same idea works for foodplots...

No Till Food Plots - So Easy

If there was ever a time I ask you to follow someone, it’s now. This young man emailed me and asked if I would do his podcast. George is a 16 year old, young man with a passion for wildlife and apparently soils! I don’t know what I was doing at 16 (ok maybe I do) but it wasn’t recording...

No Till Food Plots - So Easy

Day 6 crimper update 1. Termination is solid 2. Deer feeding is also consistent - which is very cool as any clover or what not that did survive is low and the deer can access it easily. We’ve had some well timed rains and some heat - I am expecting the NB to pop out of the ground and really...

No Till Food Plots - So Easy

As you can see the mowing set back the Carbon Load greatly. It created a great space for the NitroBoost to grow in and this garden is LOADED with diversity!! I get asked often how to terminate without spraying. There are a lot of ways and none are perfect, but do they have to be?

No Till Food Plots - So Easy

Throw and mow update - A few weeks ago I mowed off Carbon Load with a push mower. This is for my garden cover crop. Because of my tomatoes needing more time and me wanting to offset some of the compaction issues in the garden - I seeded NitroBoost. This gave me a few weeks of growth and 2x...

And trust me he would have. I was in the ac cab — he’d been letting me know!! Hahaha but all joking aside - i did a lot of observing it and it seems pretty dang smooth once it got up to speed.
