Hello I debuted my 1920's Iver-Johnson Champion (16 Gauge) today. Figured it was a good way to celebrate Armistice/Veteran's Day. Had a great time and think I will end up really loving this gun. Mark Technically, I hit this one, and then hit it again...

Took the 1936 Remington "The Sportsman" 16 Ga. squirrel hunting yesterday. Did not fire it once, but had a great day. Mark

I went out again today. Really could not ask for a better day, in the 60's dry and sunny. Spent a couple hours walking a bit, hanging out for a while...then another place, etc. Then I ended up upon a family taking a walk, so I ended up packing it up. Had a great time...did not fire a shot...

Just grateful that my first one was a clean quick end. Killed outright, but did not mangle him either. When I skinned it, it looked like a lot of the shot went right through the underside and through the body, but not out through the top side of the hide. There were quite a few shot right...

Update on this one. I ended up going out today, in the rain LOL. Fired one 16 Ga Shotgun Shell and collected one very dead Squirrel that fell out of the tree. Overall I had a great time, hoping next time it is a little more on the dry side though. Mark

With all the misgivings I might have about the aspect of killing what I plan on eating...I did feel a bit of guilt to be honest... But when I was driving home, I must have driven past almost ten dead, smashed Squirrels on the side of the road. Maybe this guy went the easy way, in the whole...

OK, next time, maybe this coming weekend?...do I take my 1920's Iver Johnson "Champion" Single Shot or my 1936 Remington "The Sportsman" (Three shot only version of the Model 11)? Both are 16 Ga., sort of like that gauge...LOL! If it is crappy out again, I might take my Mossberg 500 12 Ga...

I always have a 1950's era Imperial "Kamp-King" on my keychain. I can get it very sharp with little work. Also carry another pocketknife, sometimes a Muskrat pattern, trapper pattern, or stockman pattern. I tend to like older, traditional type knives, firearms, etc. LOL! Mark
