Hey Brock: pass me a Pepsi. I had all the fun, but I made a mess. 😁

Yep. I killed one. Thankful for the opportunity at something to fill the freezer. Plus, I'm a sucker for 8pts. Couldn't be happier. He fit the bill.

Had him at 45yds last week. He took the wrong trail. Set up decoy this morning. Had a good idea where his bedroom was. Climbed up early. 30 min before legal light, 1/2 mile walk in with a decoy, and was chilling already. Light comes up. Woods wakes up. I here rustling. Using binoculars I see him bedded. The rustling was a smaller 8pt coming to greet him. I watched them hang out. He stretched. Turkeys lit up on roost. Eventually he started walking. Truly a morning that epitomized the "why" we do what we do. So he crossed creek. Headed towards me. Veers off on trail 40yds out. Thick stuff. Heads east and away from me. Nothing down there but does tend to bed there. I suspect he has a scrape in there somewhere. Likely scent checked does, hit scrape, and started his way back to me. Looked liked he was taking the 40yd from stand trail, but locked up. Saw my decoy. Decided to take the 20-25yd from me trail. I adjusted for saplings and tried to find a hole. Forgot to "meh" him and took an absolutely terrible shot. BUT. . .he sprayed like a fire hose. Had to hit femoral artery. Below loins, in front of hams, above guts. Heard him crash. Even so, I played it safe. Just in case it was guts and my eyes deceived me. But alas, they did not. Stiffer than a board when I got to him.

He is hanging. 150-155lbs gutted. I am thankful and I have been blessed.

Great job Phil. Hit my buck 2 years ago exact same spot. Dorsal aorta. Barely made it 100 yards on full sprint. Congrats buddy
Dorsal aorta. I'll have to remember that. Less than ideal shot placement. Nobody should ever aim there. But if you happen to hit there? Massive hemorrhaging. Highly effective.

Thanks all.
