Hey Guys,
A friend called me that needs some quick cash to buy a used car.....he wanted to know if I had interest in buying the above which is in good condition.
KBB says trade value is $ 1800 and today's retail is about $ 2600.

The drive belt light is on (needs changed) and its got some carb issues. It's been sitting for quite a few years. He messed up the title as its never been officially transferred from previous ownership. It also has a winch on the front.

I forget...but wasn't this one of the holy grail four wheelers to get?

I really don't need it and it would probably sit around the garage and be used a couple times a year. It would benefit me around the house as a tool.

Acceptable fair price?

I wouldn't consider it a "holy grail" quad, not from that era anyways. I was never a fan of belt driven quads. It would make a good quad with some TLC though. I'd say $2K is fair considering it will take some work to get it going.
 
I figured its about a $ 500.00 fix to get things straight in terms of drive belt, carb clean/adjustments, brakes.

I was considering an offer at $ 1200.00.

He was considering trading it into the local car lot in which I'm sure they'd only give him $ 700-800 for.

The only way I'm actually considering this is if I'm safe on price. It's my risk as this bike has been sitting for 3-4 years. It runs, he says. I could use an extra utility bike around the house as I have a Polaris Sportsman 500 at camp.
 
By the sounds of your use, it could easily be a worry free tool for you. I've never heard of anyone messing with the carbs either, probably just some bad fuel. They are a pretty basic quad, which means less things to fail or go wrong. With title issues, needing work, and you not having a real need for it, it'd think $1,200 would be more than a fair price. With an option of him buying it back for what you have into it.
 
I have a 2005 750 brute force I bought two years ago for 2600 in excellent condition. I wood think 1200 would be a fair price. A new belt for mine was 100 and took about an hour to install, not much of a job you can find a how to vidieo on u tube. Odd are old gas with ethanol sat in it and went bad , probable a carp rebuild kit and a good cleaning will take care of that. I would also clean out the gas tank and replace the fuel line and filter. Then go have a blast!
 
With title issues, and unknown other issues. . . I think an offer of $1200 is plenty fair. I wouldn't go over that myself. I am a fan of Honda quads although the Yamaha Kodiak I have has treated us well.
