2016 Coyote Killers

Fur taker permit required if doing anything besides gun hunting? Or is one required then (thinking gun season, lots if guys would be SOL), but worth verifying.

Hunted yesterday morning. Three locations. No dice. Did three sets this morning. One this evening 545-730pm with no luck. Showed a house. Checked some parking lots for ice. Just finished another set on my property. Nothing. I have tried every mix of calls I know. Evenings I try to start with a distress a couple minutes, cut straight to coyote locator. Sit and listen. If nothing, I go for some female howls, female invitation, and throw in a male challenge bark here and there. I am stumped. I know they are in the area because I cut two sets of tracks this morning. A set each on two different properties. Best I can figure is they were running their loops last night after it stopped snowing. They may have "been" in the area last night, but that doesn't mean they weren't 2-3 miles away this morning when I was calling. Oh well. I will be persistent now because I don't like to lose. I will get one yet. It is February. Prime time!

Just made a set for a little over 2hrs. No visuals. No verbal responses. Good observation stand with long visuals even after the sun went down. Trying at my property now.

Phil, may I suggest a frozen yote decoy?

Too late Chad. I'm done. Sat another hourish. Had some barking not too far away. Nothing would commit. Haven't had much luck this year.

Huge coyote contest went down last night in SW Ohio. Should be some good pics surfacing real soon. Weigh ins started at 10 and end at 12.

Congrats to those hunters, very nice!
