I found out I have some great access in Illinois along with accommodations. Buddies wife has roots there and apparently they own an ass TON of farm land. I gotta look further into it and see if it's worth the trip.

Hunting in new places for different things has to be good for the soul
Get on it, Gordo!

If I get PDT orders from the Air Force I could possibly be going anywhere in the US to shadow active duty Officer. Hoping I end up somewhere out West.

Gordo... THis may take the wind out of your sails... Then again it may not since theres actually 2 BOONERS behind every tree...

Non-Resident Archery either sex deer tag= $400.00
Non-Resident Firearm either sex deer tag= $300.00 (county specific)
Non-Resident Hunting License= $50.00
Habitat Stamp = something like $8.00

OUCH!!!!! That hurts... I buy all of the above every year...

Gordo... What county do they own property in ????

"J" I hear ya... That's a lot of cash to lay out... Then there's all those other costs added in... But I gotta say I have a blast out there each and every year..Its 3 weeks in heaven each year.. If I have to I'll trim some off the beer budget during the year. As for a booner behind every tree?? Maybe years ago but not so much nowadays.. But we have encounters with them every year. Actually I'm going out there next week, and with all this talk about sheds, I'm like a kid at X-Mas.. We have about 1500 acres to check out. Hopefully the locals haven't picked them up already..

Hell that's nothing... just this year, MT Elk and Deer tag... $1100, then purchasing preference points in CO, WY, UT, NV, and applying in NM for a <5% draw odd archery elk hunt, we're talking another $500 lol is it worth it? Absolutely.

Did you draw? Just PP for me this year.

results are june 1st, put in for a group draw with a guy who has a lot of preference points, I don't know if that makes a difference, we are literally camping at the base of a mountain for a week, I'm so excited to do this,

Lol. It is nice to hunt new country though, does something good for the soul.

I've been bitten by that bug lately and was looking into Kentucky for the upcoming deer season. After seeing license costs and figuring in lodging, travel time, etc I had pretty much decided against it. Then the opportunity to get on Seth's (Buckslayer) lease came up. He was gracious enough to answer all my questions (and I had a lot lol) and after thinking it over I decided to go for it. So I'll be hunting the 1000 acre Jackson/Vinton county spot this year. It's a heck of a deal to have access to that property for an entire calendar year to hunt anything that legal and in season. Much closer to home than out of state and cheaper too. I'm stoked about it, haven't had the opportunity to hunt private ground in a long time.
