Walked my legs off today. Check out my haul. Covered a 30 acre parcel in a grid search style of search. Zip. Covered sections of a 70 acre parcel I hadn't previously along with double checking some of the "good for a shed or two per year" spots on that property.

I know that feeling way more than I prefer to Phil. I come home skunked, sore and achey 60-70% of the time walking the areas I have access to. If I find just one it makes it worth it but I try to focus on the enjoyment of being out and about and just plain being able to do it. ACCESS is key though as there is much more area I can’t walk versus where I can.

This was the second shed I found this year on 2/5.

I walked around for 10 more minutes and found its mate about 40 yards away amid some briars and brush. Both had just dropped and had blood on pedicles.

PB has been very difficult to download pics on nowadays. I have this buck on video hitting a scrape about 3 miles away from where I picked these up. If I ever am able to download the video I’ll post it here.

Here is another shed I found on same day but it had no blood and it had a few small chews on it as well and was on a farm a mile further away from the farm I hunt. The g2 is 10.25” long and the beam has really tight curl.
Those are some thick brow tines!!!! Wonder how old he is?

I practically belly crawled this farm(only CRP within 10 mile radius)the past 6 years and still haven’t found shed #1 on it. Not even an chalker or coyote dropped chew toy.

Just goes to show some places no matter how awesome they appear just don’t have the “IT” factor. 😂
This pic is just showing 1/5 of the field and surrounding woods.

Took a 2 hour walk tonight and it turned out to be worth it. About 90 minutes into it I reached a high thicket that is out of the flood plain. Tracks and rubs everywhere. I told myself this place looks sheddy. If there's going to be one anywhere it's right in here. I went about 50 more yards and spot something white about 50 yards ahead... I can tell its bone..that rush you get when you first lay eyes on what you know is a good antler is hard to describe...so I walk closer and see that its a dandy. Makes it all worth all the miles walked! My best one this year.

Took Buddha out today all day (7 hours) found 6 sheds (1 matching set). One of them was only 3 points, but had crazy mass!! Going back tomorrow with one of my buddies to see if we can find the other side. Today was pretty much his last day for this season (Dog park opens Thursday and he’d rather go there) finished the season with 4 dead heads, 23 sheds, no idea how many matching sets. I was able to shed 11 lbs of winter fat myself 😀😀

Found a very cool antler. It was hollow 3”+ up into core of beam and felt lighter in weight than normal antlers. It was also grayish in color but had nice mass and freaky looking. It definitely broke of this season but hard to know when. The inside of the core had both blood and algae inside it.

Here is a pic with a normal antler. If you zoom in you can see how hollow it is and you might even see the blood inside to the right.

Never seen anything like that hollowed out antler....I wonder what could’ve caused that?

Spent the weekend in Illinois shed hunting and hung a few stands.. Didn't find many sheds, but had a great time with my buddy.. We also pulled some camera cards we left running in Nov. One cam had over 7000 pics on it.. Tons of up and comming bucks on camera though.. Makes you wonder where all the sheds went?? Heres 2 pics.. One is a buck in mid-air...
