Has anybody young in good health died yet? Heard on the news that the two deaths in Washington state lived in the same nursing home and had previous compromising health issues.

Six deaths in Washington now. All from the nursing home, all so far have been older patients. Older people and those with underlying health issues are the greatest at risk. Things like asthma, smoking, ease of getting respiratory issues like bronchitis, etc make younger people more at risk. I was reading that even high blood pressure is a huge risk factor.

Good article. I just read a similar article my wife shared with her nursing friends in regards to how nurses should respond.

What we tend to forget? Chinese hospitals answer to nobody. Doctor to patient ratio is crazy. Budget is limited. This means they aren't the cleanest/most sanitary. Have a complaint? It falls on deaf ears. I also suspect the numbers of infected are much higher. Many could be infected with minimal symptoms. They are out spreading the virus. Less people in the states will die than in China simply due to better health and healthcare available. Percentage of death will go down.

@Clay Showalter thanks. Joe is doing what he feels is right. He is privy to info due to his job and trying to inform people. I respect that. We simple differ in opinion on how severe it is and how drastic our measures need to be on prevention. It isn't like I'm suggesting people wander around spitting on door knobs or trying to spread it. I simply believe my efforts to stop it are in vain. I'll reduce my probability to come into contact with it as possible. If I'm going to get it. . .then I'm going to get it. If it is this contagious with minimal chance of avoiding it? Then what are we to do? Make right with The Man. Live our lives. If infected? Do our part to avoid spreading it.

Know that I’m alive, I made it. Never seen Samuel Jackson either. I’m just a bit of a weirdo even for myself at times.

Once I seen the 20 year old doing a crossword puzzle, I was out! Nope! 3 things you never see people doing anymore all at one place, at the same time. Looked around after I stood up and not one of seventeen had their phone out.

I ain’t playing, I was 110% beyond freaked out. Still am

Up until now this had been a pretty informative thread...
Still very informative, just in a different way. Not the scary way we’ve been reading it. My point behind all that is to bring how important it is to be aware of your surroundings. From the moment my hand touched the door, I could’ve whipped my face and there would be no difference in my pouting my mouth on it.

Then we move on to the people in the place. I noticed what they had in their hands. Books, not something to sneeze into, books.

Every story tells a different story depending on the reader. Take what you want from it. But information comes in many ways.👍🏼

I’m gonna go back to freaking out now because I just seen someone back up without a spotter.😂

I tried to do a search for amazon and precautions they’re taking, couldn’t find anything. I joked early in this thread about shipping it from Wish, but this is a real concern for me.

So I've got some thoughts/questions in general:

1) So what is going on in China? Particularly, was the govt there able to maintain basic utilities like electric and water in the hardest hit areas? And when are their people going back to work, or have they already? What's going on there?

2) Do we think that the US CDC has been giving us the straight scoop on how bad this is going to be, or are they soft-pedaling info to avoid panic? OR, are they soft-pedaling info because they're being directed to for political reasons?

3) I don't know what the exact date was, but I remember exactly when it hit me that we were in for a shitshow - the CBS evening news had a reporter in China, and they said that they govt was rushing to build hospitals in 7 days. Then they cut to an action shot of a construction site that was filled with track hoes digging like mad - not like six or ten, but like 75 machines, all going at once. It was crazy. And I thought "if their govt is throwing that kind of effort and resource into something, it's got to be extremely serious."

4) Screening travelers from outside the country - it's going to help. But guess what? Sunzabitches is gonna lie thru their teeth, thinking they're special, and they're ok, not thinking about others, only their own convenience.

5) I wonder if the government will go so far with quarantine measures to restrict interstate travel? That would be a big deal.
