I was getting all my gear rounded up for Saturday (weird) this evening and realized we haven’t started this up yet. So I reckon this will serve as the spot to post up your live updates, successes, failures, and misadventures. Good luck all and remember to have some fun!

Sitting next to my favorite listening tree enjoying the sounds of a fired up gobbler roosted smack in the middle of our farm. He's hammering every 10 seconds without being provoked. I'll be back to roost him tonight. If he hits the same tree, tomorrow AM will be fun! The question will be whether I go high, or low, to set up on him. No hens heard so far, which is encouraging.

The bird to my N was lonely and looking. He walked 200 yards one way, then back a 100, then came at me 100. Gobbled once each change of direction. The bird to my south was also looking. He moved 200 yards N between his second to last gobble and his last. He was right below me in the creek when I aborted mission. Pretty sure I could have called both up the hill to me given the food plot I was in and all the action it sees from hens.

Good luck tomorrow, Mike!
Thanks, we are trying to put my 79 year old dad in position to kill one. He will be in a box blind in one of our fields. They typically don’t roost in the same hollow two days in a row here so he might be in the hot spot tomorrow. I will probably go where they were this morning and Tyler will cover all points north.
Good luck to you and all others headed out. Stay safe!

Went close to back Plot where I set the blind, no gobbles but two birds bugged thru the plot,
No gobbles heard but around here it takes rolling thunder to get them vocal.

Gonna set blind #2 up this afternoon and see which one sounds good from roosting them this evening.

Bearded hen and wood ducks in Skijump last evening.

No time to scout so going in blind tomorrow with @OO2 to the area that produced last year. Fingers crossed that the switch to Saturday opener doesn’t bring out the hoards. If so, we’ve got plenty of options to bounce around. We’ll be heading in well before first light so hopefully seeing 2 trucks parked will steer people away. I, however, have zero faith in humanity to do the honorable thing when presented with the opportunity 🙄. Either way, we’ll be out there!
