2025 EHD?

Last Sunday I was driving back from my parents on 71 South between Columbus and Cincinnati and I saw two small bucks just staring off on the side of road and that was like at 2pm. They looked sick and with malnutrition. Something definitely going on

When I was dealing with it, it was recommended to travel if I wanted to fill the freezer. Might be tough as widespread as this looks to be.

If the last 2 deer alive where on my hunting spot, I still wouldn't hold my kids back. This is a perfect example why passing isnt always the best option. This could be her last chance at ever killing a deer. You dont know what tomorrow brings. Have the conversation with them and let them decide. Be a great year to shoot a BB.

Meanwhile, our lovely ODNR is pushing management permits. 🤦‍♂️

Few years ago when there was EHD outbreak in my area of Indiana I will say our DNR reacted & reduced bonus antlerless quotas within the affected counties. We have a up to date map on their website as well, they do not wait until Sept to populate and share the information.

That is not how ours works. They deny deny deny. Maybe blow some smoke up your butt. Deflect. Place blame elsewhere. Deny some more. Host an open house to seem as if they care about the hunters' input. Then do very little or maybe nothing.

Don't get me wrong. Boots on the ground ODNR employees have all treated me well. Good people. Just don't expect much to get done from up top.
