Big crowds out of Catawba the last few days, it was tempting today but decided against it with the southerly wind. There’s gonna be a lot of people floating to Canada this weekend, can almost guarantee that. Decided to head east and hit a Lake Erie tributary in search of steelhead. Fished from 8-12, brought 2 topside, and lost 1 other. Unbelievable amount of Shad, and water was a little dirtier than anticipated. Jigged spoon with some powerbait worked the best. Steelhead are the hardest fighting fish I’ve run into through the ice. Electronics are useless, fish come from no where and hit your bait at full speed and make some awesome runs. Can be sketchy ice fishing on moving water, just gotta pay attention and constantly spud.

Catawba is going to be a zoo tomorrow. I've been out the past two days on the big pond. I won't be going tomorrow... just not worth taking a chance. But it won't shock me if the ice doesn't move much at all. She's locking in better with each passing day. And the wind has been consistently SW-W basically this whole week... It's kind of "pre-loaded" for this upcoming blow. Monday looks to be the real test. SW gusts up to 40+ mph.

After these next 2-3 days I think we’ll have a pretty good idea of what kinda shape she’s gonna be in for the rest of the season. Hopefully. Lol

Walbridge oh
What ever was left out there I'll guarantee it was all gone this morning lol. If your lucky you can pay a salvage fee if not it's gone for good.

Doing a quick trip with Nate, my buddy Eli and Joey. Day 1 is about complete. Eli and Joey bounced around and caught a few dink perch. Nate and I stayed put, only fish to speak of were 1 keeper perch, a barely keeper eye and my first mudpuppy. We both thought the mudpuppy was a burbot, and Nate said “why the fucks it got legs!?” 😂 Had a 4’+ sturgeon swim through as well, which was bad ass to see. Got some intel from locals, and sounds like we have a reasonable plan for tomorrow.
