Goats did well in the show ring tonight, which means we're out of the 4H business until next year. Kaydence will clear $4K towards college for the year. Not bad for a 7th grader! We're fortunate to have a great network that supports her in the show and sale rings. Next year, Kenna will be old enough for a project, so life will be even crazier. She bought a show shirt for next year tonight, and a show stick because there's no talking her out of getting a cow. Look for us to bring home some dairy feeder calves in January 🤦

Feels good to shed some responsibility headed into fall!

Thanks Adam for reminding me to update.

We got moved in and all was pretty good.

Sunday was poultry.

Onto Monday for rabbits
Nolan did okay in showmanship and his rabbits were probably 3rd overall, just narrowly being beaten by the Reserve Grand pen. Laney's rabbits weren't as good but she rocked showmanship again (i think this is 3 years running! ).

Friday was the sale and there were some tears. But then smiles as the individuals that purchased Nolan's rabbits wanted to take them home. View attachment 212464View attachment 212465

It was a good year.
I wish I could "Like" this post twice!
Congratulations to Laney and Nolan, that is cool stuff.

7th grader Holy cow i can't believe how .....how....how we're all getting old. She really looks like she's in command in those pictures. Congratulations to her and your family.

Something like that but larger and significantly cheaper. I have a 12x8ish one that I built out of scrap lumber. Its designed after the hog fence hoop ones but uses PVC and normal garden fencing. I then reinforced it with quarter inch hardware cloth 2 feet up all the way around. I has a door just tall enough for me to walk through on the one side and is partially covered. Its starting to show the age of being outdoors year round even though I used pressure treated lumber. Its so heavy that I can only pull it myself or with my mower or the side by side. My kids aren't able to independently. And when I pull it the bouncing over the ground stresses the wood and its starting to pull apart (even though I've reinforced the corners on the inside and outside).

The one I'm looking at any of my 3 kids could move with moderate effort. And its aluminum....

We are going to do more meat chickens next year. 1.) My oldest is in FFA and its an easy project for him to make some additional money on. 2.) We are going to sell the extra ones through facebook marketplace or if anyone on here wants some let me know and I"ll give you the approximate cost and they'll be ready by early October.
