A struggle

The way the head is lopped off it almost seems like a "by chance" find. Like it was found laying dead? That old dirty thing would have been at the taxidermist had it been me that shot it.

Easy fellas....Take a chill pill...Am I a fan of gun season?? No, thats no secret...Do I have my buck? no...So yes I have been sitting around with a gun in my hand.... So that clears that up..

The term waste was used becuase the deer was found a day later....the meat....wasted....then to top it off the head was lopped off and put on display like a hood ornament... Plus, it was a great 3 year old that I woulda liked to have seen make it another year to see what he turned into... Plus it is kinda irritating to me because the individual that shot it has the mentality that he has to shoot a buck, just so he can say he shot a buck... I have long learned you cant keep bucks from being shot...But it still irritates me when it happens...

The assumption that i said it was wasted because it was shot with a gun.....Well it was just that, an added assumption. It was the end result that earned it the term, wasted

I'll call BS on that, Zach. Not a thing wrong with gun hunting, or gun hunters. Most here do both. If a person chooses not to, I think they are a fool. It's something I enjoy, and I'm sure that most everyone that does it enjoys it as well. If you were that worried about someone killing him with a gun, you should have put an arrow through him. There will be more next year, or even later this year!

So I'm a fool cause I only bowhunt?

I know what zacks trying to say. While a lot of us don't hesitate to gun hunt most on this site prefer to bowhunt and put a lot of time, effort and respect into deer hunting. The average gun hunter who's whole deer season is wrapped into a handful of days of slinging lead at every deer they manage to chase out of hiding just doesn't get it. They have every right to do what they do. But if they were forced to hunt using woodsmanship and not drives and pockets of shells they would be lucky to see deer, let alone kill deer .

Guess I am TOO.
I'm going to start gun hunting even though I don't want to.

Not me. It means nothing to me to shoot em with a gun. I have nothing against it just not for me. I have sat and watched 140 class deer walk outside of bow range during gun season with a bow in my hand. I will I am sure it will happen again.

I don't hesitate to pick up a gun. I find it kinda fun after 2 months of bowhunting,. Some people's mentality just leaves a bad taste in my mouth . I worry less about it less now, but it still bothers me.

Doesn't look like the person really cares about mounting it and the picture does look like the most respectable way to display it. Losing all the meat sucks as well. Just not sure why all the meat would have been lost?

To me, the picture looks like it was taken at night, but I could be wrong. Given how cold it has been and that at the very latest, it was found yesterday at 3PM, I am curious as to how the meat was no good. Coyotes?

I really dont know...I know it was gut shot and layed for a period of time. and I know he shot it monday morning on a drive first thing...But it was also not exactly cool yesterday or monday during the day....Whether the yotes got it or not...I Dont know...

But its still beyond me how it was not recovered till the next day... especially with them driving the woods...

That buck could have went out the side door of the drivers or went back through them after being hit. Then bedded and found the next day after the yotes got him.
The driving parties I've seen (not saying all are like this) don't always take the time to search for deer if hit. They have too many guys that want to move on to the next spot.

One year I finished off a wounded doe that was hurt bad. She left a great trail in the snow before she got to me. I sat there for a long time waiting for the drivers to come back and look for her. I'm still waiting...

Again, I'm not saying all groups are like that, but this group was.

Now also let me say I am getting all this second hand myself....So I can not put a gurantee on the validity of all things... So the trail of events and occurances are not first hand on my part!

Well if that is the case, I say you are getting fed a load of bullshit. That picture was taken with the aid of flashlights or headlights. That is not a day time picture IMO. Look in the bottom left hand of the picture, that is the beam of a flashlight.
