I still say the new tagging system works the same as the old. Guys who wouldn't check them in the old way still do the same crap and guys who were honest before still are.
I miss the metal tag because it had the date on it and hung proudly on the horns. Still have all mine on my mounts.

The tagging system has nothing to do with it. Hell, he can't even get it processed without having his tag filled out.
To each their own, but I understand the feeling. I would be upset if one of the deer I passed was killed on a drive. There's nothing you can do outside of having thousands of acres... Hopefully the deer was found in time and the guy was tickled. I know there was a day when I would have been amped to have put a good buck down on the end of a drive.

He had a unique rack and to me looked to be about 4 years old. look on the bright side. At least it wasn't one with potential. One less hunter with a buck tag to worry about. As for it being a waste. eh. shit happens. This one was shot during youth on a neighboring property to mine. Last I was told they had called my landowner for permission to track. Not sure if they recovered him, i'll stop by and talk to the other landowner. If not I'll go find it and hopefully get it to the deserving youth that shot him. Such is the game we play. He was 4.5 and the only thing he did from last year was put on 4 inches total of G4s.

You can't say for sure that was the buck they shot. They could of shot that wide goofy lopsided buck and thought he was a giant...

I love deer hunting with my compound bow
Someday I'm going to love deer hunting with a trad bow
If they open a spear or fuggin harpoon season I'm gonna love deer hunting with a spear or fuggin harpoon

I was introduced to deer hunting (which I love, BTW, did I mention I love deer hunting) by my uncle, who's a one-week a year private in the orange army.
He's a one-week a year hunter; I choose to hunt like mad because I love deer hunting.
I hate poachers. I hate selfish and unethical hunters.
There are poachers and unethical hunters who hunt with every type of weapon.
There are stand-up guys who are good hunters hunting with every type of weapon. Some deer hunt from Sept thru Feb. Some hunt for one week.
Just go hunt as much as you can with whatever weapon you want when it's legal and focus on what makes you happy.
As long as you're legal, screw what any elitist snobs wanna think about you.

Dan hit it on the head. I just love deer hunting despite the method of harvest.
As far as the meat being wasted, I can't see how the weather any where in Ohio the past two days could have done much. I've shot hogs in Texas on mid seventy degree nights that were found the next day and there was nothing wrong with the meat. If the yotes got to it, I wouldn't want the meat either.
