I know that some varieties are the deers candy, especially white oak. My hunting area before it got stripped to nothing used to have good oaks in there, but the logging comp. Took them of course. How many have good producing oaks on your hunting land and do u hunt by them? Are they the deer magnets as ive often heard? Worked all weekend, well fri and today sealing the bike path/ walk path at Carson farms in delaware. First day i noticed the path was linned with different oak trees. So today when we took a few breaks i picked up a shit ton of them. About 5 different types. Some white. No reds cause of tannic acid levels in them. But got probly 25 lbs of them and plan on trying to place them in woods scatered around in an area for the deer. Would anyone else do it or was it a wasted time? Going to crush a bit to make a paste to have a concentrated aroma at first , then scatter a bunch every time i hunt. Think itll work?? Thats just part. Got another bag of just white oak too keep seperate. Never tried this b4. But has to b as good as acorn rage u can buy.

Ya. Me too. Ive thought about it b4, butsame feeling. But i had to keep blowing them off walk way b4 i could seal it and seeing thousands it seemed fri, decided to give it a try. Figure ill make my own acorn rage and have lots to scater around every time i go back. If it draws them in....then well worth it.especially putting one in frezzer that was munching on them will be rewarding

Idk my acorns that well but I was seeing all sorts of acorn colors when I was out this weekend. Even some that were real dark, almost looked black but they were freshly fallen. Theres oaks all over which keeps the deer pretty spread out while they are dropping good.
I see a lot of guys complaining they aren't getting pictures of deer over corn right now. Kind of annoys me that they dont understand deer couldnt care less for corn right now when there are high energy acorns literally everywhere right now. Gotta stock up on them while they are available, then they will be back on the junk corn.

I've seen a large pile of acorns attract deer as well or better than a pile of corn. You may need more than 25 pounds though. They'll eat through it in no time.

Ya. There definatly high energy, fat filled carbs that corn has nothing on. Mite try to get more and scatter them around a bit in an area. One deer would probly eat them in first visit in a pile.. Certain type of red oak species are almost black.

I’ve day dreamed of doing this for a long time. Do you plan hang it to limit access? I’d be inclined to just dump piles like corn but the critter would wreck havoc.

I have 3 red oaks in the back yard. It's like walking on marbles and windows are huge targets when mowing. Still a ton up top too, hope it's a good year for both reds and whites.

I have only really seen deer seek out reds in a hard winter after the whites and other tasting browse is gone. But, food is good and natural food is hard to beat!

Let us know how it works.

Mabey hang those on a licking branch above a scrape. What i was planning was pulverizing a decent amount to make a sort of paste. Figure that will put a bigger scent into the woods. Make couple little piles of the paste around and some smaller piles of whole acorns to get them intersted, then scatter around a shitload so they got to hunt for them or atleast work at getting there full. Kinda get them interested in them a bit. And every time i go back to my area. Put a little pile of homemade acorn rage and scatter some. Dont think itll hurt. White oaks r there favorite food and red oaks are still better than corn . i have probly 6 different types. And am going to get abunch more white oak acorns. Even if one doe is milling around and just so happens to find herself in my freezer, itll all be worth it. Only fields around me are bean this year. No corn. And my woods were logged, so no more oaks around. So have high hopes. Ill post results.

Peanut butter has a similar reaction, from what I’ve heard. I’ve never tried it. Seems like the grape koolaid to me, just doesn’t feel right.

Never tried any of them , probly wont besides these. Figured id give it a shot. Cant see myself packing back peanut butter. Or grape cool aid. Probly would never have done this eirher , except they were all over my work area. So got paid to pick up bag of them...but if they work ill prob get more or every year. Trying this this year. But only other atractant ive ever used deerpiss. No kool aide or anything. Hell ive never once baited for deer. Have a feeln theyll check these out though.
