Active shooter

Crazy how fast the media labeled it an active shooter situation. Somalian with a kitchen knife. Glad the police shot him quickly. Time to let students carry on campus if they're licensed.
My girlfriend and I were talking about this. I feel like there might need to be a class taken though to allow students to carry on campus. In a situation like that; high stress, possible multiple targets, innocent people running around in close quarters, like a weekend class that involves a little bit more training than ccw courses offer. Something like some states are doing for teachers to carry where they send them through a weekend course of high stress situations and different scenarios. But I do think that responsible, smart, and contentious students and staff should be aloud to carry. I trust my instincts and judgement but others I question at times.

A kid that helps out at work and goes to OSU was at work today. He was showing me videos from friends on campus during it. Saw the Body bagged guy and cops all around. Got to the scene in 55 seconds and shot him less than a minute later. Glad to see they responded quickly..

I'd rather the campus make the call of "active shooter" then waiting. I'm glad they did what they did and that officer handled things so well and quick. My thoughts go out to anyone involved.

Terrorist? Sure seems like it, but no one is claiming him. So if it doesn't come with a message it would be a random act of violence. Sad either way.

I also just found out about the wild fire...that's some sad shit. My heart and prayers are with those folks also.

What Dave just said I agree with 100%....
Fuggin media got it wrong from the get go... They were wrong on every front of that story .... Boggles the mind how they have to be the first to lead something that's so inaccurate....

I find it hard to even watch the news at all these days. Its hard to know what is truth vs. fabrication. Congrats to the Cop that made a quick and correct decision. Thoughts go out to the families.

Sad to hear about the wildfires. That's where my wife and I got married. Thoughts go out to those families as well.

Media is screwed up and everyone knows it. Kinda why I didn't say much with my opening post. I was hoping someone had some good reliable info.

Even watching some of the news last night, everyone kept talking about terrorist. SMH...do these people even understand the words they use? Dustin, you used the right word early on "ignorant fucks". That goes for multiple groups when this happens.

I think they said the police were already there because of the fire alarm that had gone off and the fire department had responded to as well. Probably all a good thing because if they were 10 minutes away the dude would have done much more harm.

Concealed carry scares the shit out of me because I want to have a gun and be able to kill the fucker but I don't want the cop that shows up on the scene that fast to shoot me thinking he's being a hero.

So put your hands in the air when the proper authority shows up...pretty simple. Do what the police say and live.

Lmao that's true, only problem is all the school shooters (not stabbers or bombers) seem to be white. I think most cops are trained well enough you'll know they're there and can put your hands up. It's more the random young inexperienced security guard gettin a bit trigger happy that scares me. I'd still rather have a gun than no gun though.

Yeah I'd take the gun over nothing

Word.

I used to be somewhat anti-open carry. Not any more. I pretty much open carry everywhere locally any more, especially when I am with my daughter. I'm seeing it more and more around me too. I'm 5 minutes from WV who now has constitutional carry and you see a lot of guys open carrying over there.

Have you watched the video of the man murdered in the beavercreek Walmart by police who responded to calls of an active shooter? The cops turned the corner of the isle and fired at the exact same moment they issued a command. The guy didn't even have time to turn his head and look at who said something much less drop the airsoft gun before he was shot.

And while I agree he was incredibly ignorant to be walking around the store carrying an airsoft gun he picked up off the shelf, he was 1000% legal to be doing so. It could've been a real AR 15 and he still would have been 100% legal.

What we have today is a police force who has been fully kitted out in surplus and personally or unit purchased combat gear. Watching the news at OSU I saw numerous law enforcement individuals with goggles pulled up on their Kevlar helmets that even had the cloth that slides over them. Wtf do they need goggle covers for, this ain't the sandbox. This shit was over in a minute but the ATF was in flight from out of state to the location. Hours later there were still cars pulling up and LEOs jumping out to get fully kitted up in their tacticool gear. The number of alphabet boys responding was ridiculous. Some of it is in response to the world we live in. Most of it is just local PDs beating off in their mil surplus MRAP vehicle in full battle rattle waiting for the slightest shit to happen so they can go play army.
