Antelope Island

Great pic sean. That mule deer is nice one. I want a pronghorn in the worst way. There are pros and cons to living out west. The biggest con is that the people here are less inviting and friendly than in Appalachia. I've driven back and fourth between washington and ohio 3 times now. Each time the only money I spent was on gas national parks pass (which is free for the military) and food.

I've spent time out near SLC @ Hill AFB, touring Utah was always fun as the scenery was alway phenomenal, people were cordial and the hiking was a blast....

If you ever go back out there visit the oldest bar in Utah, you won't be disappointed lol... Was owned by a German woman who was a character lol....
The shooting star saloon.... Well worth the trip in both history, food and scenery....

Finally had a few minutes to sit down and crop a few pics of that muley...

A few weeks before we arrived there was a lightening strike and wildfire. Burn a huge part of the island. I snapped this as we were flying home...

Hell of a muley Sean!

You should try to go back in the winter and hit the slopes. I've skied Alta, park city, and canyon parks. By far my favorite was Alta as it's skiers only and you don't have to deal with jackwagon emo teens on snowboards. Lots of advanced slopes with tons of fresh powder. I'm not sure how good of a skier you are but I took to it like a duck to water. Strap a pair of skis on and point me towards the black diamond slopes, my Mississippi ass will rip it up. The last time I went I just took my camo hunting bibs and a Columbia jacket as I wasn't going to buy ski bibs just for a long weekend. The guys in the lift were all elbowing each other and mumbling laughing. I could tell they thought I was in way over my head as the only routs down we're double blacks. Ski patrol even stopped me when I got off the lift to caution me. I just threw a dip in and put my goggles down. I could tell the other people were hanging back before going so they could be behind me and watch when I bit it on the slope. When we got to the bottom they skid up laughing and high fiving like they'd seen a catholic nun rip that slope. Ski patrol even radioed down to tell the patrol at the bottom to let them know if I made it. Don't get me wrong I've bit it hard and had a few yard sales but that's all part of learning. If you bite it go limp like a drunk and don't fight it. Funny thing is I can't water ski worth a shit.

I was just going to ask you about the fire if you saw anything. Fire really isn't a bad thing for the animals out west, I read an article about this fire and they said it didn't bother the animals at all, they're good at getting out of and away from it. Plus in a couple years it'll be some great growth.

I think you found one of the two muleys on that island that have been all over Instagram!

Yeah, I think you're right. I've been scrolling some hashtags on Instagram and think it's the deer on the right. Very similar.

I showed the pic to another guy photographing when I was out there and could tell by his reaction something was up. I told him where I spotted him and he broke his equipment down and took off! Lol. The bigger of the two is being called Double D I think?
