Anyone deer hunting with a sidelock ML?

I got out of muzzleloaders a few years back. However, I've missed it and have rejoined the muzzleloader ranks with a 50 caliber Hatfield, flintlock. If the weather isn't wet and nasty, I'll be using it this year.

Is anyone else still hunting with a sidelock style muzzleloader (flint or percussion)?

Yep. Both of my muzzleloaders have have never failed to fire in bad weather. Just keep the lock covered. Some people leave flint locks unprimed and percussion guns uncapped with the hammer down on a piece of leather until a deer shows up if it is raining.

I've had a oiled piece of leather to cover the frizen for years.
Nothing, I mean nothing sucks me back to my mountain man fantasy like carrying that 50 cal flintlock into the woods.
