Anyone heard of "The Licking Stick"?

I may have to purchase one of these "licking sticks". It just makes too much good sense, as to how it works and at a low cost...year after year. The videos make it more understandable, as to how/why it works.

What are your thoughts?

Just another gimmick to get people's money. Do a little extra work and bury a post with a branch sticking out or just cut a big oak branch and put it in the ground.

I'll be the first to admit I'll buy into some gimmicks, but this one is beyond me. Like Slam said, bury a post and attach any old branch. It works perfectly fine.

Well, the package arrived on Thursday and today was the earliest I could get out to "install" it. Now, I'll sit back to wait and watch.

I plan to get one sometime next summer and get it in place. I think it will work to stop deer that travel through my creek bottom funnel. Keep us informed how this works for you. Did you place a camera to observe it?

I don't have a camera on it, at the moment. However, a friend of mine has a trail camera that he's not using and I'm going to borrow it. I've never owned a trail camera and probably should just go buy one.

I have bought alot of gimmicks over my life as well, but when I look at the cost, I would say I could make something from what I have laying around before I did that. I would probably just drive a short piece of small diameter pipe in the ground and then add some duct tape around the bottom of the stock so that it would fit snug in the base.

I had my first visitor this morning. A small spike buck. He was interested and/or curious about the tree, as he licked and rubbed his face on it for a few minutes. It was only a few minutes after legal hunting time, so with the low light levels, getting some photos was out of the question. There seems to be a lot of bucks in this area. I've only seen 2 does and one of those was a fawn. Interesting experience.

Good to know. It didn't take them long to discover it. I take it you were hunting from a stand within view of the set up.
