AR platform pistol... Which caliber and why?

LOL... That used to be my m.o., but no longer, buddy.
I'm getting close to retirement and will be holding on to everything that I purchase in the coming months.

I think the 9mm platform works great for close range issues. Plenty of firepower, ammo is readily available and little or no recoil.

I just wish it was legal to hunt with .300 in Ohio. I was almost ready to buy an AR chambered in 300 as sort of a multi purpose rifle until I found out it wasnt legal to hunt deer with it. There are hunt legal options but they are more costly. Not that hunting with a pistol AR would be a great thing , but when justifying a purchase multi purpose use is a good consideration. Ive just decided to go with 5.56 when I do make the purchase
