No modifications are needed to use a detachable mag with a sks.

The mag I tried failed on both of mine. If you have personal experience with this, please let me know what works.

Sks removable mags can be hit and miss and are difficult sometimes. Try putting the arm that extends out of The front of the mag in first then the back of the mag. Also, lock the bolt to the rear before trying to insert the mag.

No problem. They are good guns and believe it or not far more accurate than ak 47s.

Indeed. Sometimes the stock needs a little adjustment work (sanding down if wood) to ease in magazine exchange.

Picked me up a SKS Roosky model when I lived in Washington. Dark wood and refurbished. I thought about buying detachable mags for it but haven't gotten around to it yet. And yes they are way more accurate then the AK. If only they originally produced them with a detachable mag then they would be todays most used rifle and the AK would be in the dust bins of history or at least less well known.
