Love that Ithaca! First shotgun my dad got me was an Ithaca model 37 in 12. Loved that gun! Wish I still had it!
My grandfather bought one for my uncle when he was young in 16g. He sold it. Grandfather was pissed Everytime I heard him talk about it.

I loved the engravings on the receiver. Wer they the same on all of them or were they different for each caliber?

I also picked up an Ithaca. 20 ga SKB 600.
Same engraving. Even on the newer ones made in Upper Sandusky. Kind of looks like they stopped production on shotguns? They sure are proud of them$$$$$.

I have another one with a solid rib in the safe so unsure if ill keep this one or move it along to fund something else that peaks my interest . It was one of those purchases where you pick something up and cant put it down lol
I have my wife’s grandfather’s 37. 12 gauge and the serial number puts it at 1955.
I also have my grandfather’s 37 but it’s not an Ithaca it’s a Winchester 37 single shot 16 gauge. No serial number on it. It’s that old.

I will have check on the value. Serial number starts with 950. I had the forcing cone extended and a good recoil pad installed, which tamed it down pretty good when shooting slugs. It has killed a bunch of deer over the years. It is in good condition and shoot very well.
Yesterday I took 50 rounds and my Rock Island model 206 .38 special to the range. I hadn't shot it much and thought I should get serious about it.
On this target I shot 12 rounds center-mass at 5 yards. I shot in quick succession -BAMBAM - BAMBAM - BAMBAM 11 shots good, one grazed the arm.
Then I shot 8 rounds at the head, cocking the hammer and aiming. I was ok with the results, and the gun felt really good. Bought it on sale at Dunham's a while ago - very economical - and I like it alot. I think it would make a good little carry gun
