Pretty cool to read about my dads gun (mine now) in the back of the American Riflemans january issue. Its a fun gun to shoot and is my trapping pistol.
The gun in the artical is in the 15K serial number range and my dads is in the 8K range so a early first year gun. The gun in the artical has a cracked grip and dads has a chipped stock from when i dropped it.
As hard s we all try to keep em nice, over the years, those scuffs, cracks and dinks all add to the character of a gun as its passed down.
If I had a dollar for every older gun I have held and in admiring its scuffs and such said "I wish it could talk"...

Had a cool moment yesterday. My dad got my sister a Ruger .22 pistol for Christmas and we were outside breaking it in. He ran in for more ammo and came out with a gun I'd never seen before. Back in the early 80s, my grandfather bought and sold gold. He would travel to a compound in Indiana to buy it, then sell it back here. Dad went with him one time and said the place in Indiana was a little scetchy. My grandpa would carry when he went and the gun dad brought out was grandpa's carry gun. It is a Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum. We shot it a few times and it was a cool experience!

Nice piece! We have an old S&W model 10 .38 special that was my grandpas carry gun when he was a security guard at the hospital. Its nickel plated just like that one, same style grips TOO!
Very cool Jesse. Thanks for sharing. Something like this I will never experience. My dad/grandpa were not hunters or gun guys. I would feel fortunate to have even one of the arrowheads my grandpa found, but it will probably never happen. To enjoy shooting a pistol of his would be like being there with him. I am jealous.

I picked up my new RIA 22 TCM rifle on Monday. The 22 TCM round is a short 223 case loaded to the same length as a 45 ACP round. The 5" pistol gives 2000 FPS with a 40 gr. bullet and the 22.5" rifle gives the same round 2800 FPS. It's going to be a fun combo. It'll replace my 22 mag. rifle.
This is one sweet minie Mauser style rifle with a sweet no creep trigger and a 5 round magazine plus my 17 round magazine fits the rifle also. I have a nice Simmons 44 Mag 6x18 with Mil Dots scope to install. More scope than I need but it's handy.
And yes the magazine is loaded and one in the chamber. At present it lays in my nightstand and my Aug 223 with three 30 round mags. are close by plus a Mossberg Bullpup 12 ga. shotgun loaded with 00 buckshot.
I can reload the 22 TCM for less than 50% the cost of 22 mag ammo and pick a much better bullet design.

Just curious...what is the .22 mag that you are replacing? I'm not seriously in the market but it's on my short list. (Someday I want to be as cool as CDJ3 and have a .22 mag rifle and wheelgun).
I have a Russian T-bolt style rifle and it's one of the most accurate 22 Mag rifles made. But the price has went through the roof since USA banned Russian imports. It'll go for 600.00 plus.
Then I'll probably sell off my H&K 300 22 mag rifle at 1200.00 plus the 15 round mags go for 150.00 and the 5 round mags for 90.00. The H&K 300 is another very accurate rifle and one of the best made autos.
You might say I have expensive taste in firearms. I only buy right and good investments as I call them my "precious metals". Pick the right firearm and buy it right and never loose money when I sell.

The H&K rifles haven't been imported since the 1980's. The most accurate and most reliable rifles made. Just a piece of art in firearms and the value just keeps rising.
H&K made the Model 300 in 22 mag and the Model 200 in 22LR and I have both models. Just been good investments. I'll post a picture soon.
